I literally can’t believe that post- the actual AUDACITY of people to say that they are ‘anti purity culture’ in a fandom space, before lording their purity culture in the literal next sentence… they really have zero self awareness. None. They should be truly ashamed of how utterly stupid that sounded to anyone with a brain.

I don't think they're brainless, per se, lol! They don't want to be seen as puritanical, and hey, it's their event, they can run it however they want. I just think they're being pretty disingenuous in banning certain things and not others. Only the "right", approved kinks/ships allowed.

Technically, by their rules, any ship with a demon in it should be banned under their necrophilia clause. They mention nothing about noncon, a very real squick (and literal reality) for far more people, so I guess that's a-okay, over consensual adult incest? If they're worried about what's illegal in America (and it does seem like they're probably coming from an American mindset), there are a bunch of illegal activities the event still allows, including bestiality. Fourteen states in the US still have laws on the books forbidding “deviant” sex acts, including oral sex and sodomy. So what's really going on here? My guess, at a glance, is ship warring. All their little buddies will give them shit (oooh, you can write scat for the event, though, ha ha!) for allowing wincest, even though it's the second most popular ship in SPN.

They're comfy with some pretty out-there, potentially gooey taboos but not others (which are arguably more common), so the bottom (hurhur) line is that it's likely more about fitting in with their peer group. I do wonder if WinCasWin is just barely pure enough to pass muster... or if the Winchesters can't even be in the same state when they make The Love.
