HEY SO what if. hypothetically. eridians constantly emit high levels of infrasound via their thrum organ, and what if it makes grace sick, and what if it keeps getting worse the longer he's on erid :))

if you dont know: infrasound is low-frequency noise generally not audible to humans (below 20Hz) but can be felt as a humming vibration at higher pressures. grace is comforted by it because it reminds him of rocky! and rocky being there! only it also penetrates biological tissue, can potentially damage the body on the cellular level and cause severe physiological & psychological effects, especially when exposure is chronic/long-term. source (the field is very heterogenous & i'm no expert so take all this with a grain of salt)

it might even impact cardiac function and lead to fibrosis (tissue scarring), and you don't need me to tell you that heart disease and organ damage are bad.

anyway. what if grace recovers from the starvation only to deteriorate again because he is constantly near eridians and even when he isn't, infrasound travels far. he can't sleep, he has brain fog and mood swings and balance issues, his blood pressure is elevated, he always feels on edge. he knows something is Deeply Wrong, and he gets worse and worse but neither him nor the eridian scientists can pin it down because it's just not on their radar!

and when they eventually do figure it out, they make the biodome fully soundproof, of course. but some of the damage is irreversible, and also: he cant interact with them as much anymore. he has to limit his exposure. he loves rocky and his people but they're essentially slowly killing him just by existing.

never noticed this before but it's very interesting how clamp was consistent with portraying kamui as a devil and fuuma as an angel in official art despite kamui being part of the dragons of heaven and fuuma being antagonistic towards him

perhaps showing how kamui's choice was ultimately a selfish one of wanting the people he loved to continue living despite the cost to the earth vs. fuuma being somewhat selfless in granting people's wishes despite aiming to rid the earth of people (though the DoE's desire to cleanse the earth is for the earth's benefit so again leaning towards the angel idea)

this is shown in tsubasa official art too, with fuuma wearing white and being shown in an open bright blue sky and collapsed limestone/marble/whatever the white stuff is vs. kamui with the red sky and the cape looking like a devil's wing and the black and red outfit and the general being a vampire thing. though one could argue that there are some angelic elements to this art like the white wreckage which is shaped like a wing and the white wing (along with a black one so it could go either way) with the halo and the 7 which im pretty sure is a bit of a heavenly number or smth

s1 really goddamn good im sorry but it is. s2 meh but better than i thought it would be. but still kind of forgettable. s3 ughhh this was really where it lost me i fucking hated the stupid teenage romance subplot and the russians thing and that fuckass terminator dude and the butchery of various characterizations and the lowering of allll the stakes like remember when getting in a fistfight had physical repercussions? now were taking a metal folding chair to the head and walking it off because fuck you thats why. couple of fun character moments (only with new characters though) and ummm i guess the mall battle was kind of interesting to look at but that was it. s4 still in progress. my standards have been lowered enough that i cant tell if its that much worse than 3 or just a similar level of suck. im not intrigued by the haunted house aesthetic im not unnerved by new big bad man and his stupid looking legs and im not charmed by any of the new characters not even mr made in the blorbo lab metalhead. except argyle i like him. hate what theyve done to everyone else, dont care about any of their relationships anymore, ankle injuries dont fucking work like that, why is everything so stupid now oh my god get me out of here. s5 im not watching that shit
