Here's an angsty Valentine's Day one that can be used for any of the paladins ;) Their s/o goes missing and they spend what he think to be weeks looking for them among the remaining Garla ships, but to no avail. When they come back to the shop after another bad search, they find a Valentine written from their s/o detailing their love for them 3
I don’t know how you wanted me to interpret this… but I’m gonna do it in the angstiest way possible :)I hope you enjoy!——————————–
No one other soul had taken a breath in besides that of a small, uneven sigh that had escaped the lips of one such Pidge.
However, it wasn’t really a sigh. The movement of the lungs was too heavy, too quick, too sorrowful, too gone.
They wrapped their knees close to their chest.
Without your warmth, they meant.
Pidge’s heartbeat was shallow, unsteady.
It was like all the strings inside their body had started to rattle, to snap and break.
The weight of three lives was laying stoutly on their back.
Missing. Gone. Disappeared from existence in an instant.
Pidge had looked everywhere. The weighty guilt had begun to consume them, bit by bit, hour by hour, until all that was left was an underfed, overworked, and particularly empty shell of a human being.
Pidge had laughed. Bitterly, ironically- what world is this? What monstrous things had they done in their past lives, that the world was to punish them so cruelly?
They were sorry, for whatever the hell it was. They were very, very sorry world; and now they’d like their family back. They would like you back.
Preferably sans casket and burial.
Ship after ship. Hour after hour. Days, weeks- edging up to a month now.
It was lonely, and it was cold, and little light made its way into their heart anymore and little reason for ever…ever continuing on, did.
The only reason why they did, was simply due to the prospect of finding you. Of that light at the end of the tunnel, that can be reached.
But their patience, unfortunately, was running short.
How much longer? They wondered. How much longer until this nightmarish hell is over? How much longer until they can wake up in the morning and not have their mind plagued with overwhelmingly horrendous thoughts as to…as to what became of the three of you?
Pidge felt a tightness in their chest, and they knew it was time to give up on thinking for now.
Panic had drifted into their being, their mind settling in on this foe of a feeling, no doubt beginning to race, as they carefully unwound themselves from their position to go set themselves elsewhere.
It didn’t matter for how long, either.
They just had to do something.
And in their quest for that very same something, they had happened upon your room.
The- outside of the door was decorated with different things, and your name was proudly displayed upon it in colorful paper.
Pidge hesitated, their hand on the doorknob.
Pidge, nor any of the others dared to set foot in that room. It wasn’t sanctioned off, but it was certainly wasn’t something they all had decided to sift through.
They’d opened the door wide, their breath caught in their throats.
Everything was exactly as you had left it. Dust hadn’t even begun to settle on your things. Your computer screen’s power button blinked on, a small desk fan hummed happily.
Pidge stood at the threshold, and whether it be their legs had turned to lead, or their minds were too terrified to move forward, they simply...waited. As if you were going to pop out of the door any minute and proclaim, ‘Here I am! See? It was all just a sick joke!’
They wouldn’t even be mad if you did.
But in almost exactly the same amount of time, Pidge’s body moved itself forward, deeper into your room.
Besides a few things such as laundry and books, the place itself was relatively tidy. Even on your desk, there was no-
...!Before their mind could even comprehend what was happening, their soft and careful fingers were already grasping the yellow envelope-
with Pidge’s name attached to it.
The sounds of paper tearing can be heard, as they desperately try to obtain whatever lies in that note- it could be a rejection letter, or a ransom note, it didn’t matter, it was something.
Something, they had pleaded.
“Pidge,” the note you had written began,
“Happy Valentine’s Day, My love!
I wanted to start off by saying that I love you! You’re amazing and wonderful and I am so happy that you’re in my life!
I don’t feel anything other than sheer joy when I’m with you. Everything seems to just...melt away. I feel like I can forget everything and just be myself, you know? This is probably really corny, writing to you for Valentine’s, but I felt that writing my feelings down was in order, just in case something was to happen-
I love you as Pidge, and I love you as Katie- heck, I’d love you if you were neither. You’re smart, and talented, and brave and...amazing.
Simply, amazing. Sometimes I wonder if I even deserve such a great person as-
Because you complete me, Pidge, and in the end that’s all that matters.
“-Y/n.” Pidge finished. Their voice was heavy with grief, and tears.
“Y-Y/n,” They repeated, tears springing- the first time they’ve cried for since you’d disappeared.
Pidge collapsed onto your floor, their face in their hands, the note slowly floating to the ground,
“W-wher...wher-re...ar-u?”
And the reply that came was their echo.
