Sooo I was thinking about reasons why Chat Noir is my favorite character and one reason alone on what makes him the best character is that
He acts like an actual cat.
Has anyone else noticed that Chat Noir has been the one superhero to take on the strongest animalistic traits of his miraculous? Beyond just the costume?
It isn’t like Ladybug and Queen Bee/Vesperia develop working wings. it isn’t like Carapace’s shell is a real turtle shell or he moves slower. But Chat Noir straight up ACTS like a cat.
What could be the reason?
Well, it’s most likely he chose to. Think back to Malediktator, he forced him to act 100% like a cat, and Chat Noir is just confused after he becomes normal again.
It’s also been said that the miraculous affects him differently, because there’s that whole theory of him being a sentimonster (which I don’t know how the miraculous would give him stronger cat-like traits).
So, if the sentimonster theory is proven false, then just keep in mind that this boy chooses to act like a cat lol
Ah yes. An iconic scene. We see in Prime Queen when him and Ladybug are on the train, Ladybug falls into him and he purrs.
Like, you hear the sound and his chest vibrates just like a cat. And then he denies purring when Ladybug is weirded out by it. He either did it to make her laugh and got embarrassed when she didn’t, or he did it without thinking - you decide.
We see in Stormy Weather that his eyes actually work like a cat’s eyes do. He’s able to see in the dark when Stormy Weather takes down the electricity in the building.
I don’t know why this doesn’t really come up again because it really is a cool power and it would make him more equal to Ladybug (and less of a sidekick) if he was able to use his night vision more. Think about it: Ladybug has two big powers she uses in EVERY episode. Her supposed “equal” only has one big power that he uses in just about every episode. Sure they’re both stronger and have cool weapons but c’mon now. Let Chat Noir use that cool night vision more.
His cat ears are fully functional
So for a while, his ears would just kinda wiggle/twitch sometimes (which is ADORABLE). But it was fully confirmed in Mega Leech that they are ACTUAL cat ears, seeing as how the mini Malediktators managed to crawl into his ears.
We don’t see much of this one either, but there was actual meowing going on during his fight with Copy Cat. It was an intense *cat* fight so I think that’s what kinda brought it out in both of the kitties.
What’s interesting is that his tail is a belt. Ladybug has used it in MANY situations with her lucky charm and what not. So it’s interesting that it sticks out and curls up at times (and so cute when Marinette/Ladybug pulls it to hold him back or grab his attention)
This is best seen in Glaciator when he pounces onto Marinette’s balcony and then scrunches up on all fours. I don’t know how that’s comfortable for him but he clearly enjoys doing it.
I just overall think it’s great how much he embraces and plays into the role of acting like a cat. Aside from what I wrote, he also gave himself that bell on his neck that you can occasionally hear jingle, and he drinks milk from the Bourgeois hotel when he’s down.
I also love that other people just go along with it too (especially Ladybug). Scratching his chin, calling him kitty/chaton. And he loves that attention, too.
