Something about the wiccan’s lean into his cold touch would have made his heart flutter had it been beating. He hated feeling so much--granted that these were pleasantries--he followed Kiki’s gaze.
“That is understandable. You could always save it for later.” Stanislav replied, knowing that it finances didn’t matter. He had more than enough money to fret over a bottle of liquor. His hand retracted from his lover’s face as Kiki put the bottle in the fridge, light hues observing the way she seemed to hesitate pouring out the booze. It was an odd choice, seeing as Kiki had always found an excuse to drink but perhaps his earlier comment from the first night they’d spent together had struck something within her; even more-so after losing the relatives she loved so dearly.
Crossing his arms; he listened as she asked whether or not he could read piano notes. “Of course I can. Would you like for me to play?” Perhaps that might cheer his human up. Without a verbal response, as soon as Kiki grabbed his hand he gave a small squeeze--their ‘thing’--and allowed the human to guide him to the piano that lay within the main area of his residence. Much like before, the tall glass revealed the expanse of their city. Taking a seat on the piano bench, he looked to his lover as she pulled out her phone and pulled up the sheet music he required.
Hues scanned over, and after setting the screen where it needed to be; his fingers assumed position on the pristine white keys and he with coordination of a skilled pianist he began to hit the notes. Looking to the notes, he didn’t so much as have to glance at where his digits would press as he had many years of experience. The melody was unfamiliar; but nonetheless somber and it wasn’t until Kiki began to sing wherein he came to understand this was a way of her to release her feelings.
Remaining quiet as the wiccan sang her song, he found himself impressed. While it may be viewed as average to others, he’d much prefer Kiki’s voice than that of any other artist--though this likely stemmed from his infatuation, and he was most certainly biased. He came to gather this song was a representation of her feelings towards the Professor, and Stanislav could empathize to her hatred. He had loathed his maker to his core, but unlike Kiki; his maker had long since died--saving him from her mockery, the taunting, the abuse.
After the final note, the room enshrouded itself within a heavy silence akin to holding one’s breath. Stanislav looked to the wiccan at his side, gently tucking loose locks behind her ear with a delicate touch he saved only for her.
“You have a lovely voice.” The vampire king commented, light hues fixated on her profile. “We make an interesting pair, wouldn’t you agree?” He paused, looking to the piano once more. “Are there any other songs you’d like to duet?”
As he brushed a strand of hair behind her ear she finally looked up to meet her vampires gaze. she couldn’t help but smile, she didn’t see any judgement in his light blue eyes and it set her at ease. Singing was definitely a healthier coping mechanism then drinking herself sick. Paired together with Stans elegant playing she thought they made a decent match. “Thank you, it’s been awhile since I’ve sang in front of someone....” yet again her vampire seemed to get her flustered. Her hand reaching over and grabbing his, interlocking their fingers as she gave a squeeze. “Yes we do make an interesting pairing! It was nice...to be able to make music with you!” Her gaze follows his as she stares at the keys. Another song?
Singing was helping her get her feelings out, feelings she didn’t want to speak about. She liked to keep an optimistic, sunshine personality around others. Her darker side was something she was greatly ashamed of, she didn’t enjoy seeing the greys of the world. But through music, she felt that she could secretly express herself through lyrics without outright saying it was how she felt. Grabbing her phone from the music stand she tried thinking of another song. Scrolling through music she knew in her mind she settled for one that she was very familiar with. “I know how to play this song on the guitar, it’s one of my favorites” googling the music sheet for the song, she sat her phone back up on the music stand. Her gaze lowering to the keys as he began to play the melody. Closing her eyes she took a breath and began to sing.
“Perfect by nature, icons of self indulgence. Just what we all need. More lies about a world that never was and never will be. Have you no shame don’t you see me, you know you’ve got everybody fooled. Look here she comes now, bow down and stare in wonder oh how we love you. No flaws when you’re pretending. But now I know she never was and never will be. You don’t know how you betrayed me and somehow you got everybody fooled.” So many emotions were running through her body as she sang. Hurt, anger, sadness, fear from the past and the present mixing together. “Without the mask where will you hide. Can’t find yourself, lost in your lie! I know the truth now, I know who you are and I don’t love you anymore! It never was and never will be you’re not real and you can’t save me. Somehow now you’re everybody’s fool....”
