Scar: Who hurt you?
Strelok: *snorting* What, do you want a list?
Scar, checking ammo supplies: ...Yes, actually.
#3,6,23,26, and 30 for OTP Questions!
3: Who walks around the house half-naked and who yells at them to put on some clothes? Thancred is the one who’ll wander around without a shirt on, for sure. Often for bells if he has no where to be or any pressing issues that require his immediate attention. Shirt off, trousers half-unbuttoned is his preferred way of relaxing. Generally, Phaedra is fine with that but there are times - when its been a few bells - where she’ll unceremoniously throw a shirt at him, or tell him to put some clothes on “or he’ll scare the neighbours”.
6: Which one reads OTP prompts and says “Oh that’s us!” and which one goes “Eh, not really”? Hmmm... Phaedra would be the one to point them out, only half-serious, I think, because she’d be so aware that OTP prompts can be a little on-the-nose. Thancred would be the one to brush them off. Mostly in part because I feel like he wouldn’t want for his relationship with Phaedra to be put into a box of tropes, or because he’d be worried that he’s not living up to those prompts and tropes - if that makes sense.
23: Who comes home from work to see that the other one bought a puppy? Thancred, for sure! In canon, Phaedra is always turning up with a new minion for her collection or a new mount, so it would not be wholly out of character in a modern setting for her to foster or adopt a dog or a cat without him knowing and greet him when he comes home with “MEET THE NEW MEMBER OF THE FAMILY!” I envision that in a modern setting, they would have so many animal foster fails. XD
26: Who takes a selfie when the other one falls asleep on their shoulder? Hmmm.... I think they both would. Phaedra would do it in a “look-who-is-finally-taking-a-break” kind of a way. While Thancred would do in it a “she’s-fucking-adorable” ... followed by another selfie of him with a pen or marker, and a devious grin and the question: “should I?” on it.
30: If your OTP went on vacation, where would they go and what would they do? Who would take the pictures? In canon I venture they’ve taken a few short trips to Costa del Sol. Only a few days here and there when circumstances allow it. It’d be very much a relaxation holiday, plenty of resting and sunbathing, chilling out, catching up on lesiure reading. Phaedra would sketch, Thancred would fish. They might venture into Limsa Lominsa if necessary, but for the most part they’d remain in Costa del Sol and enjoy each other’s company and the fact they are not needed for any pressing matters.
Phaedra wants to take a holiday with Thancred to Kugane. The one time he went, it was specifically to visit The Burn and seek out Alphinaud, so there was no time to see the sights or enjoy some time off. Whereas, Phaedra would like for them to have a whole sennenight in Kugane so they have the chance to visit The Ruby Sea, and The Azim Steppe and other places. It’s just not something that has come up, yet.
In a modern-real-world setting, I think Thancred would want to go somewhere to look at remains of old civiliation. So he’d push for places like Greece, Turkey, Crete, Peru and Egypt. Phaedra would enjoy those, but she’d be more inclined towards places that are... not so heavily populated. She’d want to go the rainforests of Costa Rica, the Galapagos Islands or safari throughout Africa, like Namibia or Gambia. Somewhere that is isolated, with only a few other people including herself and Thanced, with plenty of oppertunities to go walking and tracking wildlife. With a few days on a beach at the end to rest up.
Thank you for the ask! <3
Caught in the Rain
The wind whipped the branches of the large trees in the distance. The sky a dark gray, a herald of an impending storm. Sorcha looked up. They were out in the open. Unlikely to find proper shelter until after the sky opened up. Their short time in Dravania had taught her as much. She shifted the pack on her hip full of dried wood broken from a melia that decided they were too close to it. The rabbits hanging off Estinien’s belt should be fine.
Alphinaud and Ysayle should have finished setting up camp for the time being. She hoped.
A droplet of water fell on her nose. Shit. “Come on Estinien,” Her swift walk became a near jog. If he had something to say she ignored it.
More and more the water fell down. It soaked through her tabard. She felt like a drowned rat.
“Sorcha,” Estinien said, barely audible over the rain. She turned to him and almost laughed. The water falling down in rivets off his helmet. He looked closer to a gargoyle on one of Ishgard’s Cathedrals than part of the Knight’s Dragoon.
“Yes?” She put her hand over her eyes, trying to see him through the downpour.
“The camp’s a little way that way,” He pointed to a place a little ways to the left of the direction they were walking. ”We should move faster, I will lead the way,” he grabbed her hand. Dragging her through the new muck.
She didn’t fight it.
She was soaked to the bone, the wood probably soaked as well. The rabbits for the meal were fine however. Small favors.
Hells due to his helmet he probably could see better than her.
It felt like forever.
By the time they had returned to the mostly protected area that was their campsite Sorcha was shivering. Estinien was fine however.
She crawled into the tent she and Ysayle shared, changing and passing out. Only vaguely hearing the worried earful Alphinaud had given the Dragoon.
but imagine as juvia is dying and gray comes over and tells her not to and she's all "Gray-sama, Juvia wishes to hear your answer." and he's all "No, Juvia. Don't." “Gray-sama, please. It's the last thing Juvia will ask from Gray-sama." and he's all like fuck no why are all the people in my life dying so he's all "Stay, and I'll tell you." and Juvia just dies right there and he's all NOOOOOOOOOO and then he tells her that he loves her but it's too late
OR
instead of that, he tells her, "I love you, but....not the way you want it." so juvia dies knowing that her love was never returned and she was the ame onna that no one could ever love
Threw in a couple of old pieces to make the set more complete :P
(Pacific Rim AU with sort of tuckington, docnut, griffons, yorklina, churboose, chex vibes... )
The Freelancers were the original Jaeger pilots: North w/South, Carolina w/York, Wash w/Maine, Wyoming w/Florida. Tex pilots her Jaeger alone. AI's are created to increase Jaeger efficiency, but it goes wrong, the AI data mixing in the drift and driving the freelancers insane, and/or killing them.
Blood Gulge is the name of camp where the remaining Jaegers end up, in need of all new pilots.
Grif and Simmons work there as scientists (i.e. Newton and Hermann respectively) studying the Kaijus. Tex, one of the few survivors from the freelancers is running the program, recruiting drift compatible partners to fill the jaegers. Donut and Doc pilot Organic Sunshine, the most flamboyantly painted Jaeger of the bunch. Sarge pilots a Mark I jaeger simply named C.C. with a spanish speaking man named Lopez. He doesn't understand a word of Spanish but somehow they're drift compatible anyway. Church pilots Blue Sniper with a rookie named Caboose, after discovering he wasn't drift compatible with his girlfriend, Tex. Tucker used to drift with Grif's sister Kai in Wicked Sister, a yellow and teal jaeger designed fro speed rather than strength, her slick design making the machine appear more female, more so than even Organic Sunshine, with it's pink and purple paint job. Unfortunately, Wicked Sister got the crap torn out of her by a Kaiju and Kai lost the ability to pilot (as well as most movement in her right arm) leaving Tucker partnerless and jaeger-less all at once.
Tex tracks down Wash, retired since Project Freelancer and recruits him to her project, claiming that she needs him to help her make one last run at the Kaiju to end this war once and for all.
Tucker and Wash end up being drift compatible, something that upsets both of them, and using some parts from Wash's old Jaeger, a beast named Recovery One, they rebuild Wicked Sister and give her a new name, Broken Lady.
And then the plot of the movie occurs, except nobody dies cause i don't like when my babies die. The End.
(please feel free to come up with better Jaeger names, cause mine are awful, I am well aware. )
