Random asf but considering there’s still some mining operations in FNV, it makes me wonder how dangerous they would still be in universe, pre-war constructed or otherwise.

You survive deathclaws, radscorpions, and other hostiles on the daily only to get fucked by misstepping into a seamless 50 foot pit in broad daylight.

My biggest headcanon based off of barely any canon context is that Kent Connolly was one of the ghouls expelled from diamond city. It could explain why he is the way he is in Goodneighbor while simultaneously not having a big personal connection to the town itself beyond the memory den.

The complete self indulgent part of me also wants to say that Kent was the DCR host before Travis but that’s truly based off of nothing I just like the idea lol.

In defense of Fallout 4 (with a heavy heart lol) I really do think people underestimate how much shit is fucked up purely from conflicts that happened in the 5 years leading up to the player character being unfrozen instead of everything being static.

Like Quincy, but I do feel like the writers shot themselves in the foot for not truly going into detail with how devastating the loss of Quincy as a city was to the greater Commonwealth. Like it’s implied but not really given that much importance beyond the Minutemen and Preston’s storyline.

Kinda random but I’d imagine Swank and Silver would dislike each other in the most passive aggressive professional matter imaginable. Like to the point where it wraps back around to be fond in a way.

Idk if Benny would be aware of it or not, but if he did he’d act oblivious because he likes to shit stir.

James is such an interesting character to me because he’s dumb but like in a naive, kind of way. Dumped all his stats into intelligence but not wisdom kind of situation. Like you’re smart enough to find a way to purify a heavily polluted source of water but can’t wrap your head around why leaving your kid in a tin can with residents and hostile cops who are extremely loyal to the vindictive overseer (who you have just tricked and blind sided) is a bad idea.

Like who knows what the wastelands like and the horrors you’ve experienced but James, buddy, did you really think throwing this all on Jonas (who would ideally become the new doctor and probably swamped with work from the chaos because there’s no way James thought shit wouldn’t go down even if there wasn’t an infestation) and your freshly adult child was a good idea?

“But they’re an adult—“ not to infantilize them, but few 19 year olds given no heads up at all could handle even the best case scenario of James leaving (being a social outcast and targeted by the cops and tunnel snakes, probably in some sort of life debt by Alphonse)

I would be a little more forgiving if his plan wasn’t so half baked like, if I recall correctly there was no time limit and Li/the others did not know he was coming back. He didn’t know about the enclave coming back either at least to my knowledge. James had all the time in the world to prepare LW for the worst but didn’t because uh…destiny? Catherine’s ghost came back to haunt him??? Somebody fart???

But he’s voiced by Liam Neeson so I forgive him.

Love the fact/implication(?) that Vaults are kind of seen as ancient ruins (even more than normal ruins). An average, non-adventuring wastelander wouldn’t know what’s going on beyond the open control vaults/vaults *posing* as such due to survivorship bias.

So you have this weird situation of wastelanders treating all vault dwellers like naive sheltered weirdos when some of them definitely went through the horrors.

Like, 101 isn’t even that bad, but in terms of “control vaults” it’s still a pretty horrendous situation for someone the overseer dislikes. Alphonse had the social power to control everyone if he really wanted to (and it was kinda getting to that point until James pulled back the curtain)

Anywho, here's a question:

In a fic, if House went into a full on condescending rage while being overthrown (assuming that his speakers are still connected and it's not just his old man body) would that be in character, or would you as the reader think "He would not do that"?

Branching off from my last post, Benny gets kinda upset when Silver eats pre-war processed food in the exact way the box tells them to. Like, as a Boot Rider, he spent like 10 years perfecting recipes off reconstructing Fancy Lads and Yum-Yums, and here's Silver, eating the Blamco with the 200 year old cheese powder and all, milk optional.

(and as a failed food snob, he gets really REALLY annoyed when it tastes good)

That being said, Silver loves Wasteland Omelettes. Before then, they only ever had the "base" egg Omelettes (Aka, just the scrambled egg mixed with blood/water), and thought it was too rich (but it's nostalgic in a way, since most base creature egg omelettes are more for protein than they are for taste (going off the wiki, where there's some "tasty" variants of the Omelettes, implying that the base ones aren't as subjectively good as they could be).

In general, they really like what Benny cooks. He does solely for them even though it reminds him of his past.
