Silver survives Lanius’s parting gift (a bad case of oversized sword through gut) thanks in part to their fixation on seeing everything through to the end/“completion”.
With the tech from OWB, they already have an advantage, but they ALSO repaired the auto doc at the fort and had a securitron bring it back. Since the Fort auto doc is specified to be a Mk iii, I thought it would be cool if it had some sort of compatibility with big MT tech somehow, either as an intentional partnership or as one of Dala’s side projects.
So, to set the scene, Lanius is dead. Silver’s impaled and losing blood (I’m pretty sure Blade of The East is serrated??) in Boone’s arms, and that’s probably not even the worst of it (they would NOT be able to keep up their act when injured like that, even with adrenaline). Arcade has enough blood packs/stimpacks to keep them alive, but things probably look pretty hopeless because again, GIANT BUMPER SWORD. Then out of nowhere, a van comes barreling through Lanius’ camp driven by Cass with the autodoc in it.
The team gets Silver hooked up to it, but in addition to the usual autodoc affair, a wire comes up and attaches to their spine and immediately puts them into a sedated state, like, completely limp. Probably scaring the shit out of everyone in the vicinity.
Instead of a coma, it’s more like a weird haze to Silver. The idea being that the autodoc itself is literally connecting with their neurons/brain stem in order to completely streamline healing in complete cooperation with the chems being pumped through their system without any delay or divergence, if that makes sense. A care plan on top of their brain/body’s natural care plan. Brain collab. So for a few weeks after the dam, they’re awake, but are kinda just drugged and silently observing, since everything in them is working to heal the usually deadly injury better than even miraculous recoveries do.
((Special mention to Cass and Veronica for both having the foresight to rig and drive a van with the auto doc in it, possibly (purposefully) mowing down dozens of Legionnaires on the dam in the process. The Queen’s chariot will NOT be stopped.))
Oh also if you were wondering where general Oliver is in all of this, he still has his little endgame chat, it’s just with Benny, who has not been seen since the Fort and only shows up when the securitrons do. You can imagine what happens to General Oliver. Something tells me trying to talk down to the guy with a full securitron army watching his situationship bleed out 20ft away wasn’t the best idea.
At least Yes Man has fun.
As for Benny’s sudden appearance, you can imagine how going missing for a month, only to appear immediately after a huge power vacuum opens, looks to Silver’s friends…
