What's new?

Our Team Members have recently been working on SoulBast's Intro Sequence (GONER_MAKER replacement) and its path chart, where each individual ending and choice has animations which are still being planned! How many choices/animations are there? Well...

Here are the references (provided by Terra and Alternimo) showing what's next to come!

The Cosmic Starplaza Update is Here!

We decided to replace DELTARUNE: CHAPTERS REATOMIZED with a WIP Shift AU that has a couple Deltarune characters in original roles. It has some SwapSpin inspiration and some StoryShift inspiration, specifically the roles papyrus and sans are in. What does that mean? You'll have to wait and see!

Yes, the songs ARE back! Maybe!

The SoulBlast composers are cooking once more! This time for something with a much different tone to what is often teased here, but we hope that you still like it!

What's Terra been up to?

“It’s Terra again! I’m on vacation right now, but we’ve got a decent amount of content done. We’ve had a couple songs finished in the last week, and Alter and I have been planning out the SoulBlast opening sequence. I might not make it the first thing we do dialogue-wise as it’s super ambitious and big, although I had a really cool idea as of how to “realize it”. I don’t know if I’ll go forward with this idea, but who knows. That’s all I have to say for now, peace!”

What's Alternimo been up to, too?

“Hey, I’m back with another newsletter section! I’ve decided to do one every other week (mostly because of my current work pace, and also because Alter doesn’t necessarily entirely equal SoulBlast), but here we are again! As for what I’ve been up to…well, not a whole lot, to be blunt. I’ve been away on vacation after vacation, trip after trip…kinda doing some small work off and on, but nothing too crazy, and likely not until mid-June or so, when I get back from this big trip I’m on now. Not too much has been going on in the SP!Deltaswap (AKA CandlelitSeal (if you’re interested, DM me for more info!)) field, though I’ve been putting together a few last minute ideas and laying everything out for myself to track my progress. Preparing for some dialogue revisions too, alongside the designs for the rest of the main cast. SoulBlast-wise…not much either, though I’ve been helping out a bit with the intro sequence (which may or may not been teased somewhere in this newsletter) and some tiny logo tweaks. With that, though, I’ll quit my yapping, as there’s plenty of other (probably more important) content to be getting to.”

The SoulBast gets an update?

The SoulBlast Team has been working to improve the original logo! Here's what we've done so far, with different versions by Alternimo and SnowyBoi64

Speaking of SoulBlast Reworks...

The Character Guides are back, and are currently in a stage of early construction! Not much more is able to be said unfortunately, but we'll get updates to you whenever possible!

The SoulBlast Team has a New Member!

"Heya! I'm the I Man, and I recently joined the SB/NM team. I do some spritework, background music and maybe a bit of writing, if I'm feeling particularly wild. I've made a few works over the years and I have a few AUs of my own, (including two whole Underswap takes), but I figured I'd join this project because it seemed interesting (I was right). Anyways, I can only hope I live up to the expectations set for me, and I hope to see you in the future."

Some days, you wonder if Satan wants you dead. It would make a good story.

This is really great, but I'm sorry: I just don't really have the emotional bandwidth for Satan right now

(Or... "Satan" -- my mind is full of angels and demons and angels and demons and angels and demons and angels and demons and angels and demons, etc.)

I have this vision of a very powerful and frightening figure, an immense and impossible taskmaster of evil, someone who is not even human anymore, a being that is at once so terrifying that it has to be "the devil" or an angel, but it isn't either and it doesn't matter, because it really does exist in some physical way that can be understood, like the thing with the spiders in Kafka's Metamorphosis -- except in the Northern Caves there's no physical object involved, no specific spider to be destroyed and reborn, the thing is a concept, something that only makes sense in terms of the concepts of the world, so the concept that it's actually possible to be killed by this thing is so absurd and terrifying that it's funny, in a twisted way

What's new?

The SoulBlast team has increased in size once more with rewind_time and Daymations as the newest additions since the last newsletter! Here's what one of our newest team members has to say to introduce themselves:

SoulBlast Has New Lore?

Terra has recently created and written a multi-paragraph explanation for the new lore of Hex (Swatch), featuring a backstory of many colors in varying tones!

The SoulBlast team is still currently looking for team members, with all positions being open! Artists are definitely needed, but every opportunity is equally open and can be accessed in the upcoming-team specific Discord

Partnership Status Update

As it's not something that's been made clear yet, just like how open Team Member positions are currently, to say that Partnership opportunities with other Undertale/Deltarune are always available for projects like SoulBlast (and for SwilTaett too because the NEWSLETTERs here are written by @imaginary-regret-608 because of m and Terra working together on both projects) unless said otherwise beforehand!

So there's stuff QUOTED from Terra, but what's he been up to since the Nintendo Direct?

“Terra here. I don’t have very much to say yet again, as not much has gone on. As you may have read above, I created all of the lore for Hex the other day and we’ve made some more progress on one of the songs. As seen above, this song has a more "cinematic" style, which may make more sense once we release the full thing. Once we get more designs finished we can do thumbnails and other things, allowing us to finally post songs.”

Was Alternimo even IN the last newsletter? No? Well he's here now!

“Hey, it’s Alter, back again with yet another newsletter section (podcast ah intro). Getting straight to the point, I’ve been trying to pick up my work pace on stuff (though I get really paranoid that things aren’t made right when they absolutely are, so that definitely doesn’t speed anything up…I’m sure some of you get the feeling). SoulBlast-wise, to be honest, not much has been done, Terra’s been writing some lore that I kinda not really help out with. Deltaswap-wise, progress has been going pretty good…I’ve been starting to revise some dialogue to account for the finalized lore, and I’ve begun designing Berdly! His ref sheet (alongside the edits to Noelle’s ref sheet) will be coming hopefully within the next month or so, so keep an eye out for those! (DM me if interested in my Deltaswap take.) Anyway, that’ll conclude this little Alter update. Terra and I have SoulBlast thinking to do…so, uh, here’s to hoping I evade succumbing to his insanity once more????”

Another Newsletter, Brought Direct-ly to You!

This time it's a shorter issue to accommodate for the upcoming Nintendo Direct, but we still needed to fit our bi-weekly promise of a Newsletter, so we moved it a day forward just for today!

By the time this is released, Nintendo's YouTube Channel will almost be ready to present the most recent direct. Alternimo and Terra have put together a Bingo Card of what we think has a chance of appearing!

Terra has also said that if a bingo seen with Silksong or a Deltarune teaser is hit, that the roles for who King swaps with will be revealed, as well as some lore details if the bingo is across the middle row horizontally!

And if you wanted to make your own just in time before it starts, here's the template that was used!

Is it REALLY a newsletter without Terra?

“Honestly, I didn’t even know this newsletter was supposed to happen today. We’ve got some progress on songs made, although really not much has happened recently. Alter and I basically both just came back from vacation. The only thing I’ve actually done in these 2 weeks is some work on the SoulBlast writeup and some intense first-assignment-grinding for Deltafell: Fallen Legend as I spent about 20 hours (split between 2 different days and some minor tweaks on a third day) making an 87 page slideshow so I can make a good first impression on the team. Hopefully I achieved that, but in reality I’m not sure how my ideas will be received, considering I’m pretty much ‘the new guy’ there.”

What's new?

While the team's work on this so far isn't complete enough to be shown yet, Ciskar and Aurelia concept art is currently in the works, and we really hope that it'll be worth the wait when it eventually comes out!

Happy (Already Happened) Birthday, Terra!

For those who didn't know, May 17th was Terra's birthday! To celebrate, a "competition" was held where fakentgamer was revealed as the "winner" (although seriously, everything submitted was appreciated just as much as the next and everybody who was able to send one rocks). Well? It was TERRA'S birthday, so how's he been?

Due to exams and such, I really haven’t got much done. Alter was on a school trip and I had birthday activities to do. We’ve gotten more progress than I expected done in these 2 weeks, and once exams end, everything should be back to normal if not better. Sorry that I don’t have much to say, but I wasn’t really able to get anything done myself these 2 weeks.

Remember the Cosmic Starplaza?

Although an entire segment dedicated to one area may seem unnecessary to some, we wanted to draw attention to it this time because of a change that was made aware to us by Terra. The Cosmic Starplaza is maybe subject to being repurposed, but what comes of this and when more is able to be said about it is still unknown as of now.

The Second SoulBlast Newsletter is here!

What's new?

The search for artists is likely nearing its end, as SoulBlast now has S.D and Darkduckpl as its newest team members! There are other candidates still going through their own tests and trials, but once those are over, SoulBlast character designs may begin to appear overtime!

Where did the songs go?

Just like with the break we needed in the newsletters, the team had taken a small break from making the high priority songs in the soundtrack to make 10 side themes which we hope to be able to show here soon. RoTheNonBinaryPal and Averie_0 have been working behind the scenes to create original tracks for additional bonus rooms in the AU's school replacement, which is why the break was needed.

While on the topic of songs, the "ooohsocoolblast" theme has since been finished (and appropriately renamed, as "ooohsocoolblast" was just a placeholder). And to make up for the missing newsletter, here's a little teaser of another one of SoulBlast's songs!

What's Terra been up to?

Recently, I haven’t gotten much done. Most of my time was “free” whenever I was in a car or bus. I’ve completed literal weeks of deltaswap work for Alter in a couple days (NOTE: Terra is very good in regards to thinking of fitting ideas quickly , and it's still to see with how much he's able to do! - Imaginary-Regret-608). I expect to either do a bit of work for my Dusttale take soon, or to work out some specific details for main characters in chapter 1 of SoulBlast. I think you’ll like the songs we have in store :)

Wait, but what's ALTERNIMO been up to?

Sup, it’s Alter, and here I am with my own newsletter section! (never thought it’d happen.) So, I’ll go ahead and say what I’ve been up to recently; I’ve been writing down all the ideas that Terra’s made for Deltaswap (chill Terra chill, I keep trying to give you Deltaswap breaks but you just can’t get enough (can’t blame you)), which some of you might not even know that I have a Deltaswap take but I indeed do. I’ve also been searching for new artists for SoulBlast, and…haven’t had too much luck, but I’ve got a few, and we’re hoping we’ll be able to pick up the pace with art stuff. I’ve also been drawing lil concept arts of SoulBlast characters, but…won’t get too much into that. Anyway, I’ll quit my yapping, since Alter doesn’t fully equal SoulBlast and this is a SoulBlast newsletter, not an Alter one… peace.

The first SoulBlast newsletter is here!

What’s new?

Since we made the master post, we’ve gotten a decent amount of content done behind the scenes. In terms of writing, we’ve developed the names of all our areas in Chapter 1. Praedium Extremam is our “Cliffs” replacement, being a Latin phrase. Here, you meet Gnite, eventually reaching their domain halfway through the chapter instead of near the beginning. The Praedium Extremam is the outskirts of it, as you pass through part of its edge. I’ll talk about more areas in the future, but I’d prefer to have music for them or at least some kind of art when I do. Praedium Extremam has had a track on our SoundCloud/YouTube channel for a couple months now, so check it out!

Why haven’t you got any finalized designs yet? I can’t live with just the logo!

We’ve been trying for a long time to find a style and generalized look for our characters that feel fitting, as well as finding some artists who have a work ethic and pace similar to Nintenguy or Averie’s (our main composers as of now). Believe me, it’ll all be worth it in the end.

What’s Terra been up to?

In reality, aside from working on some random things, I haven’t really done all that much. I’m working towards the prep needed for a SoulBlast story outline and write-up, but I haven’t been very busy lately.

SoulBlast…. Eggs?

When Easter came around, I thought it’d be funny to draw a goofy little Easter egg and have any others who wanted to do the same to put their own in general. We got some fun submissions, which can be seen below

Speaking of eggs, if somebody records themself making (and trying) the Xero Mac n Cheese bites recipe from the server’s “all revealed writing” channel (with all extra ingredients that were mentioned being included, aside from teeth ofc), I’d try to find a some kinda reward for them, so there’s that.

Nintenguy has a game…. and a sequel?

What should I look forward to?

We’ve actually just finished a song and have made good progress on another one! It has a motif from a source we haven’t pulled from yet, and it’s not as predominant this time to reduce motifs. The reason the finished song won’t be released just yet is because we plan to have concept art for it, which is kind of an issue in itself, but we’ll get there soon enough! (Insert your review here).
