Soul of the Deep picks up six months after the events of Skin of the Sea. The ajogun (the anti-gods) are threatening to break into and rain destruction and chaos upon the mortal world. Only Esu the Trickster can bind them and seal the gateway between worlds. Newly reunited Simi and Kola reluctantly form an alliance with the trickster god to save the world. This book moved much faster than the first book. The stakes were high almost from the start and the romantic and sexual tension from the star-crossed lovers was riveting. I could not put this book down. As far as sequels go, this is one of the best. This series as a whole is amazing. I absolutely loved it!
