Assignment 5
Sound Texture 2:
https://soundcloud.com/amanda-61017344/assignment-5-texture-2
As a second attempt of achieving the goal of ātextureā I tried to have this piece evolve into different sections, as compared to my first attempt which was only a single texture that was explored. I made the first few sounds in the beginning by just making cuts, piecing the sounds together and playing with the EQ. Then I tried to layer the clanking sounds that came afterwards and attached a lower clank sound that resonated by adding a reverb to it. The second section was a combination of lower sounds. I adjusted the volume of some of the sounds through usage of automation. I also panned sounds quite often from left to right to try and get a sense of movement. The low horn sound was the sound of me blowing in a glass bottle with reverb and echo added on. As for third section, I tried to do a mix of high and low sounds by using a squeak noise as well as crunching noises and combining them with the sound a shuffling made by rubbing cloth together. I added an echo on the squeak sounds a while afterwards and brought back the crunching sounds at the end. I ended this piece by adding a high clink noise.
I think that the strongest aspect of my piece would be usage of high and low sounds. I think that the weakest aspect of this piece would be perhaps making it too obvious where the split was and it may have sounded like three different pieces stitched together.

My sound professor thinks that yelling at person to do something until they do it and get it right is a productive use of time. Not only is this an awful thing to subject people to, but to someone with anxiety you're literally asking me to have a panic attack. This is not how the real world works. People don't have time to harp on you that long. Fuck off.
This was my final project for my sound class this semester. The assignment was to make an audio clip where it establishes a mood and then the mood changes. We were to use no words and no music to do so.
My uber cute professor gave me perfect marks on this so I decided to share it with y'all. Enjoy!!
