How do I explain to someone that VHS noise not quite static panic attack that happens when you turn on a old TV without it being connected to like a console or cable no no no
Nah like the VHS Static noise that matches the feeling of touching a plasma ball. That.
How do I explain to someone that that sound has a very vivid taste when I hear it 😂😂
I thought about this because of the background noise in Markiplier's video "Assessment Examination"
Thanks! You should just do a “Top Games” list, where you just list the games you’ve played this year that you liked.
Two other games I almost put on my list were Steamworld Heist (Turn-based 2D Strategy Game) and The Metronomicon (Rhythm-based RPG), but I don’t have nearly as many hours in those games to justify putting them above the others in my top 5.
asklyra replied to your post : Sound’s Top 5 Games of 2016
I’d do a top 5, but I don’t think I’ve played 5 different games this year. I remember playing the original Harvest Moon a lot. I like your list! And it wasn’t that long.
I played a lot of video games this year. There were a ton of new games that came out which I sunk a shameful amount of time into. So, I decided I would make a list of 5 of these games which I loved the most. I wanted to do this in video format, but I only thought of it today, so I’m making a list instead. Without further ado, here are my TOP 5 GAMES OF 2016. I put it in bold so you know it’s important. Spoiler alert: Pokemon Sun is not on this list. Ready your pitchforks.
5) Kirby: Planet Robobot for Nintendo 3DS (Played for 12 hours)
This year I started using my 3DS a lot more, and it all started when Kirby: Planet Robobot came out in June. I had become a lot less interested in my 3DS, and gaming in general, but gosh dang if I wasn’t excited for a new Kirby game. Robobot follows the trend of recent Kirby games, utilizing some sort of gimmicky mechanic as a selling point, but this one is actually creative and genuinely fun. Kirby is able to, at certain points in certain levels, enter a giant mech suit. The interesting thing about this mech suit is that Kirby retains his ability to copy enemies’ powers while in the suit, granting the mech amazing abilities that can plow through enemies with ease. While Return to Dreamland and Triple Deluxe had these “super mechanics” which served very little purpose aside from clearing a puzzle, Robobot’s new mechanic is not only used to solve puzzles, but also beat the heck out of bad guys in a completely overpowered but still entirely entertaining way. Kirby has always been easy, and Planet Robobot is no exception, but I fail to see how that’s a bad thing. The game is hecka fun, the best Kirby game in years, and they’ve all been good.
4) Picross 3D: Round 2 for Nintendo 3DS (Played for 45 hours)
I don’t know if you know this about me, but I love puzzle games. In particular, I’m a big fan of sudoku and picross. There are a lot of variations of these puzzles, and while I’ve never ventured beyond standard sudoku, I definitely enjoy Picross 3D. To give a very basic understanding of the rules of standard Picross(also known as nonograms), there is a grid with numbers on the top and side that tell you how many squares in the grid are filled in for each column and row. Using logic, you can slowly determine which squares can and cannot be filled, and bada boom, you’ve created some sort of image(unless you are playing a nonogram, in which case there is no coherent picture). Picross 3D is a very creative variation of Picross where you are given a cube which, similarly to Picross, features numbers indicating the amount of squares that are part of the puzzle. You use logic to, in this case, destroy squares in the cube, and are left with some sort of shape. The first Picross 3D was for Nintendo DS and I bought it for like 3 bucks; Picross 3D Round 2 is an eShop exclusive for 3DS and it’s priced like a full game at 30 dollars, because it is one. I’ve played this game for 45 hours and I’m not even done with it. Every puzzle has 4 difficulty levels which entirely change the puzzle by giving you a more limited number of hints. Some puzzles feature extra rules like a time limit that can be extended by progressing through the puzzle. There is so much content in this game and good golly I loved every second of it.
3) Monster Hunter Generations for Nintendo 3DS (Played for 93 hours)
Yes, I’ve played 93 hours of Monster Hunter Generations since I got it in August. That’s nearly as much as I’ve played the last Monster Hunter game which came out in early 2015. It’s not that impressive, considering Monster Hunter is the type of game which you are expected to sink time into. The basic formula of Monster Hunter is this: get ready for a quest by selecting the right items like potions and tools, go on the quest and take down a big bad monster, use parts from that monster to make new armor and weapons, go fight another monster. The fun lies in the actual monster hunt. Every monster has their own set of attacks, their own weaknesses and ailments they can cause, different vulnerable body parts, etc. I’ve always described it as “Boss Fights: The Game.” My friend describes it as “Grind Quest” or something like that, but he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. There is certainly a lot of what could be considered a grind in Monster Hunter, because you have to fight the same monster multiple times if you want all the parts for its armor set, but the actual fighting of the monster is so much fun that it’s entirely worth it. As a disclaimer, a lot of my hours of “playtime” were me sitting in the multiplayer lobby waiting for my friends to ready up for a quest.
2) Rhythm Heaven Megamix for Nintendo 3DS (Played for 36 hours)
I’ve been playing Rhythm Heaven since the first American release of the series in 2009, when (if I recall correctly) my dad bought it for me completely at random because it looked cool. I had absolutely no idea what the game was, but I definitely enjoyed it, and since then the series has kept getting better(and easier, evidently, because I went back and played the original game and I couldn’t even get a good score on the first level). Rhythm Heaven is essentially a collection of rhythm-based minigames, where you are presented with a set of rules for each game and you have to time button presses to the rhythm of the music. Megamix is unique, in that is it basically a compilation/remastering of a lot of older games from the series with a few new ones thrown in. The Japanese name for the game is “The Best Plus,” because it’s “the best” games “plus” some new stuff. There are over 100 of these minigames in Megamix, and I enjoyed almost every one. The game is exclusively on the 3DS eShop for 30 buckaroos and goodness gracious is it worth every cent. Despite all my gripes that I’ve had with this game that I didn’t go into detail about here(but may do so if I ever make a video about it like I’ve been intending to), I still love it with all my Heart and Soul(get it? Heart and Soul is a song, and Rhythm Heaven is a game about music-... nevermind).
1) Stardew Valley for Windows and Mac on Steam (Played for 83 hours)
Here we are at my NUMBER ONE VIDEO GAME OF TWO THOUSAND AND SIXTEEN. Hey heck yeah, thanks for sticking around for this long or at least skipping to my number one. Anyway, Stardew Valley. If you’ve ever played a Harvest Moon game (which, by the way, I have not), this game is (supposedly) a lot like that. Since I’ve established (through parentheses) that I’ve never played a Harvest Moon game, I’ll tell you what I do know about Stardew Valley. It’s a game where you farm. Oh, and also, you can go mining, you can fight monsters, you can go fishing, you can run around a town full of like dozens of people with unique dialogues and unique likes and dislikes, you can collect resources in a forest, you can complete quests for villagers, you can give a bunch of items to these weird little guys who look like tomatoes with legs and eventually restore a broken down community center to its former glory and probably win the affection of your entire village if you do so but I wouldn’t know because I still haven’t finished it after 83 hours. You know, just to name a few things you could do. Hey, here’s the point, this game has so much friggin depth, there is so much to do and it’s all presented so friggin well. This is definitely my favorite game of the entire year, and it was made by one guy. All by himself. Just one dude. And he’s still updating it. If you’re into hecka chill games like Animal Crossing or (I guess) Harvest Moon, please check out Stardew Valley. I bought it on sale but it’s worth all 15 dollars of the normal price.
And there you have it. An extremely lengthy list of my top 5 games of 2016 that I don’t expect anyone to read. If you have any opinions about my top 5, or want to share your own favorite games of 2016, or just want to insult me for playing a farming game for 83 hours, leave a comment down below. I’d be interested to see how many people bothered reading this whole thing.
