Graham and Andrew talk to MJ and Stevie about an idea of supplementing the live soundtrack with archive audio of radio bulletins and documentary footage from the 1980s strikes.
"There’s an authenticity to hearing voices from the time. There’s something about the sound being full of these things. They might just provide an underscore and at other times it’s at the fore. It’ll add another dimension to the soundscape. A texture to the sound."
Andrew has spent the morning sourcing material from YouTube and plays clips from his laptop.
MJ and Stevie will prepare the clips for use in the rehearsal room. If used, the audio clips will be practical, leaking from radios on set but also used more abstractedly.
"If we gather the stuff now, then I’ll be able to see systematically where it can be used when we have the band in.
