I’ve opened up commissions for podcast editing, soundscaping and sound design!!

Whether it’s for audio-dramas, actual plays, cutscenes, animations, twitch starting soon screens, etc, I offer a variety of services and styles of editing for audio-based projects, to varying levels of complexity/price (all prices are listed in USD)!

So whether you’re looking for custom environmental or action sound design or just someone to edit dialogue, I most likely have an option for you! Whilst Ko-Fi doesn’t allow video/audio integration I do have reference samples of each option and style of editing available upon request, so feel free to contact me either here on tumblr or through Ko-Fi if interested! <3

I just witnessed the most beautiful bit of soundscaping. In season 2 episode 14 of lucifer, 8 minutes before the end of the episode, lucifer is messing about with a newton’s cradle as the end of a scene. The clicking sound of the cradle gradually morphs into the ticking of a clock as the camera cuts to a different scene. It’s just so smooth and so well done

Yeah no, I have so much respect for the visceral gory soundscaping in Malevolent but that was embarassing

Protocule fun aside, I'm still having issues listening to the office drama.

I get that we’re eavesdropping through CCTV, but the sound layering keeps burying the dialogue. The conversation between Celia and Alice was so muffled, I didn’t realize Alice was sharing her coveted chocolate biscuits until I read the transcript.

New Podfic! Chapter 1 of IneffableToreshi’s “A Touch of Heaven” is up and out! 

I did my best with more soundscaping than usual here, because of the circumstances of the story. :) I hope it makes it even more enjoyable to listen to, because the story is already delightful enough.

Summary: Crowley is badly injured in a car injury, and left temporarily blind. His friend Newt takes him to see a massage therapist, a gentle professional named Aziraphale....

Hi! I was just wondering what softwares y’all use for the soundscaping/music/general podcastery? It sounds INCREDIBLE 10/10 and idk if this is weird or like? Industry secret? Smth? (Feel free not to answer if it is! No worries at all!) but I was just wondering what y’all use!!

Hi! I'm J. R. Steele, one of the editors for the episodes!

I use Audacity (you'll hear that often), which is a completely free program that has not let me down so far! I love it, it serves its purpose well. As for how good the actors sound, that's on them! A lot of actors have their recording setups based on some tips I give and some of their own handiwork, and with some communication we can get good audio even with minimal equipment. No such thing as an industry secret in podcasting, a lot of the information can be found on youtube and WikiHow, and I sometimes get messages asking the same thing that I'm always happy to answer!

Soundscaping happens on audacity as well (which is done by the incredibly skilled Becker Hoang!), and most of our sounds are from freesound.org! It's a really popular place to get creative commons sound effects that have some really good audio quality.
