my incredibly underbaked thoughts, coloured almost entirely by the fact that i’ve been once again just absolutely binge rewatching storylines/episodes for the last few days straight whilst i’ve been doing chores/working, are not so much thoughts on their current joe tate predicament itself, bc it’s barely begun (and obviously it’s also Isabelle’s exit vehicle so she can go on mat leave), but more what i currently think would be fun to watch:
number one: give robert more medically untreated concussions and have them cause him issues and then bring his ptsd back to the forefront a bit and have that cause him Problems (for robert should always be burdened with a myriad of Problems in my opinion)
number two: i really really think aaron deserves more of a storyline out of the aftermath of john and john’s death. i want emotional and mental repercussions. i want him sad. ruin his life a bit more. robert has been allowed to emote soooo much for the past 6 months (and as we have already established, he should continue to do so). let’s bring aaron back down too. problems and suffering and pain for everyone! 😀
number three: right i fully admit i literally rewatched the 2018 reunion for the first time in YEARS about an hour ago and you can all blame that on this: i personally think that robron back in their first/second marriage got put through the fucking trenches in order to learn for themselves that the only route to a successful marriage for them both was brutal hard consistent honesty, both about whatever emotionally they’re going through but also about whatever shit they’ve been up to. it’s been so long and they’ve both been through a lot since then and their relationship is built on the same love as before and they still know each other back to front and inside out but they’re like… i think it’s very very easy for them to fall back into their relationship like nothing happened even though SO many things have happened and keep happening. which makes complete sense - it would be so ridiculous for them to fall back into 2018 levels of stability, where they knew how critical that consistent honesty was for their relationship. i think they still know that (or maybe aaron knows that - robert keeps getting his head bonked so we can’t hold it against him if he’s forgotten just how much he needs to prioritise that)
i think they need to be dragged apart just a little bit, and put through the wars again just a touch, just to re-learn that lesson again. either in a really dramatic way or in a not-dramatic way at all, i don’t care. i just think we need to get them back to team robron unbreakable ver., but i think to get them back there, they’ve gotta earn it. maybe via pain and suffering.
