if you haven’t read the moomins books, please do it, i’m begging you. tove jansson was a sapphic woman in a time where homosexuality was a criminal offense and her takes on love, relationships, family, happiness, and loneliness are all uniquely colored by her experiences. there are a litany of “non-traditional” sapphic- and queer-coded relationships in the series and they’re all good for the soul. please i’m begging you. also snufkin canonically feels stifled and flattered by love and runs from gay thoughts, and despite characters having different love languages no one is forced to change themselves for love; rather, they mature until they are ready for that what they want.
