Existence has proven to me again & again, that I am loved unconditionally. No matter what I do, I cannot lose the fundamental source of love. I can only forget about it, deny it & get lost in untruth, but life will always guide me, when I remember to listen. It will always be here with me. It will always love me. Hope you've all had a most blessed peaceful Christmas dear friends 🥰 The worst is over and the best is always yet to come but may we always choose grace and gratitude in the midst of whatever fleeting experience we may find ourselves in and remember how incredibly loved we all are, and that we get to be it, always. ️ ❤️
Compassion literally means ‘to suffer with.’
WHAT? That’s powerful! Like seriously. This is not what I thought compassion meant. I had always been taught that it meant to try to fix another’s pain, attempt to heal their heartbreak, and or try to remove the source of the hurt.
At one point I even came to believe that compassion was to put up with hurtful behavior because the other person was hurting. But that isn’t it at all!
Compassion is to sit with someone in their pain. To make a conscious choice to sit in support and solidarity with a person as they process their heartache, work through their pain, and heal themselves.
I know there is poor and hideous suffering, and I've seen the hungry and the guns that go to war. I have lived pain, and my life can tell: I only deepen the wound of the world when I neglect to give thanks for early light dappled through leaves and the heavy perfume of wild roses in early July and the song of crickets on humid nights and the rivers that run and the stars that rise and the rain that falls and all the good things that a good God gives.
