These simple sourdough tacos are a tasty change from regular tacos. The sourdough starter gives the tortillas a unique taste and texture, which makes them perfect for putting your favorite taco fillings in. These sourdough tacos are great whether you like a traditional beef taco or something a little different.
Ingredients: 1 cup sourdough starter. 1 cup all-purpose flour. 1/2 teaspoon salt. 1/2 teaspoon baking powder. 1/4 cup water. 1 tablespoon olive oil. Toppings of your choice e.g., ground beef, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, salsa. Sour cream and guacamole for garnish optional.
Instructions: Sourdough starter, all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder should all be mixed together in a bowl. Slowly add water while stirring until a soft dough forms. For about 5 minutes, knead the dough on a lightly floured surface until it gets smooth and stretchy. Cut the dough into pieces about the size of golf balls and roll them into balls. With a rolling pin, make a thin, round tortilla out of each ball. Put a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat and add a little olive oil to coat it. Each tortilla should be cooked for one to two minutes on each side, or until they puff up and get golden brown spots. Take it off the heat and wrap it in a clean kitchen towel to keep it warm. Put your favorite toppings on the tortillas while they are still warm. Some ideas are ground beef, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and salsa. If you want, you can add sour cream and guacamole as a topping. Feel free to eat your homemade sourdough tacos right away.
