I made this at the doctors office td. The building was older, kinda like the Soviet ones. I felt weirdly at home in there?

Tskaltubo (2019)
The Palace of Culture & Science, Warsaw’s tallest building, just as it has been since 1955 when it was presented as gift from [object imposed upon Warsaw by] the Soviet Union—or also a symbol of Stalinist clientism as it was a continuation of the neoclassical Seven Sisters series of skyscrapers built around Moscow; in this case by one of the same architects, Lev Rudnev, who died barely a year after the palace was completed. It’s remarkable that in this skyscraper boomtown, with as many tall buildings built in the last 30 years as Frankfurt, this is still by far the tallest and seemingly most central building, and that it has essentially the same cultural program. I also personally find it particularly astonishing as the Beaux Arts ordering over the tower and crown has such close affinity to Terminal Tower in Cleveland, Ohio, which was really my ‘first skyscraper’ as the tallest and most central element of the skyline of the city where I spent my childhood, so for me it has the effect of traveling to a distant place and seeing something incredibly familiar and meaningful. Lev Rudnev, architect, 1952-55.
