I think one of my favorite details from the production history of Goncharov is the military electronics in the scene with the Soviet general.
When he’s walking through the control room, it was filmed (like many of the interior shots) in a soundstage near Hollywood. As such, they were able to rent some US military radar equipment for the shoot. Obviously, they weren’t able to bring any of it abroad, and when they do the tracking shot of the general coming back into the room from the balcony (which was shot in Europe) all the equipment is faked and if you actually pay attention it looks really goofy. I’ll try to scrounge up some photos
