The Modern Encyclopaedia Czech Matchbox labels With the founding of the Peoples Republic of Czechoslovakia in 1948, the Solo Matchbox factories came under the control of Soviet central government. All printed communications were vetted, and matchbox label designs were controlled through the state publishing enterprise Orbis, which commissioned the printing and supplied the factories with finished sheets.
