Scriptember Day Seven - poinsettia

Prompt – Poinsettia Characters – Allison/Kenny Word Count – 400

Notes – I, uh, like Allison a lot so. Yeah. I have no real explanation for this. @lilcrimestoppers

For anyone that doesn’t know, the story of poinsettia’s is that they were originally a weed and they turned into flowers. They’re also supposed to bring wishes of mirth, celebration, good cheer, and success.

  “Is that all you’re getting?” Kenny slides the small red pot closer to the scanner. It’s wrapped up in red and silver foil, with a rather drooping poinsettia sticking out of the pot. He’s supposed to water them every other day but, honestly, he doesn’t care that much.   Allison nods. Her black lipstick is a little bit smudged in one corner. When she answers, there’s a hint of a laugh in her words. He can just barely see the tips of her plastic fangs. “Yeah, that’s it.”   It’s almost six bucks for the plant. Allison hands half of it to Kenny in one dollar bills and the rest in quarters. There are spider webs painted on her nails, fingers scraping over Kenny’s palm when they pass off the money.   It’s a slow night. Not many people have been by the corner store this evening. Kenny passes Allison back her change, slides the pot back towards the other edge of the counter. “So, you planning on taking this all the way back to your house or are you dropping it off at the graveyard?”  “Neither.” Allison pushes it back towards Kenny. “I’m just leaving it here?”  “What?”   “I don’t actually want it.”   “You, uh, know that you just bought this, right? I can’t do a return. We’re not allowed to do shit like that here.”   Allison snorts, rolls her eyes. She pokes at the pot again, foil crinkling under her nails. “Duh. I’m not stupid. I’m not trying to return it.”   Kenny’s not supposed to stand and talk with customers, but it’s not like there’s anyone else around and he’s kind of curious now. Kenny props his elbows up on the counter, chin digging into one palm. “I’ll bite. The fuck are you planning on doing with it?”   “Leaving it here,” says Allison. Her nose scrunches up. She adds, “it’s for you. I actually just came in for some gum, but I saw those and just, you know, thought you might want something to help spruce up this dump. It’s got to be a bit of a bore around here, right?”

Scriptember Day Eleven - gingerbread house

Prompt - Gingerbread House Characters – Allison/Red Word Count – 424

Notes – playing around with Allison rn and seeing who I like her with the most. I’m probably not winning any viewers by writing for a character that got, like, one line in the entire series but I just love her design so much and think that the vamps need more screen play so???

  “I don’t think that we’re doing this right.” Allison frowns at the half finished gingerbread house. It’s slowly collapsing in on itself. There’s icing smeared over the side walls, and the sliced almonds that had been put up in place of shingles have mostly slid off, leaving behind a sticky white mess of half-hard icing.   Red snorts. She pops another gum drop on her mouth. “I told you this was a waste of time.”   “It sounded like fun,” insists Allison. She uses one finger to try and push the roof back up. The piece of gingerbread cracks in the middle and falls inside the small house, taking a wall down with it.   “Yeah,” drawls Red. She lets out a puff of air, trying to blow the bangs out of her face. They fall right back in front of her eyes. “This has been a real blast. But you know what would be actually fun? Taking this mess of a house into the living room and watching that new alien movie.”

  Allison technically isn’t supposed to eat in the living room, but her aunt isn’t home right now and neither is her brother. She’s sitting closer to Red than usual, under the guise of dipping her gingerbread in the bowl of icing.   “These cookies are horrible,” complains Red. “And the icing’s gross.”   “You aren’t supposed to eat gingerbread houses.”   “Ugh. Then what’s the point?”   “You sit them around for decoration. And my aunt has a cat. He eats them.”   Red shoves another chunk of cookie in her mouth. “We should have just made cookies. At least those would have tasted good.”   “Maybe? I guess I’m just not great at baking. Vlady usually does that, but he’s got that whole thing he’s doing with the camera and, ugh, I don’t know.” Allison drops her head onto Red’s shoulder. She digs a finger into the bowl of icing, pops it in her mouth. “But, yeah, this stuff tastes horrible.”   Red drapes an arm around Allison’s shoulder. “Let’s just stick with the movie next time. And, I don’t know, a cookie tin from the Stop and Save.”
