Impulsive road trip w/ Radcha?

Even after years of knowing how to fly without any mechanical aids, Yamcha still adored his motorcycle.  None of the other Z Warriors really understood that, but there was a joy to riding a motorcycle that was totally different to flying.  Maybe it was the thrum of the engine underneath him or being able to feel the texture of the earth beneath his tires as he raced across it.  It didn’t matter that flying was faster - that wasn’t the point.  No, the point was that it somehow felt more like flying than flying.  Yeah, that was it.  And none of the others really got that.

Well, almost none of the others.  Raditz seemed to understand, and hadn’t that just taken Yamcha by complete surprise.  A lot of things about Goku’s brother had taken Yamcha by surprise.  How laid back he could be.  His charming grin.  What a smooth talker he was while also being a bit of a smartass.  His interest in mechanics.  Actually, that last one was how the two of them had ended up in this situation - namely, broken down on the side of the road.  Raditz had taken one good look at Yamcha’s bike and decided that he a) liked it and b) needed to know how it worked.  This had somehow lead to the fact that Yamcha was from the desert and so was Raditz and don’t ya know they both missed the desert?  They should really go visit the desert.  Together.  Right now.  But on motorcycles because motorcycles were cool and would be more fun.  (They might have been the teensiest bit drunk at the time.)  So they had.  It had involved “borrowing” a bike for Raditz from the Briefs but Yamcha knew that Bulma wouldn’t mind.  She would take offense to the fact that said bike broke down halfway to Diablo.

Raditz and Yamcha now had the motorcycle in pieces on the side of the road.  Thank heavens Yamcha always carried a capsule with his spare tool case.  They weren’t in any sort of trouble - they could always just capsulize the broken bike and fly back home again - but what was the point of a wildly impulsive road trip if you headed home at the first sign of trouble?

“Ha!  Found the problem!” Raditz announced.  His tail twitched back and forth in satisfaction.  “This came loose here and pulled the wiring free.”

Yamcha leaned over Raditz’s shoulder to get a better look.

“Yeah, that would definitely do it.  Shouldn’t be too hard to fix.”

Before Yamcha could step to one side to grab the appropriate tools to do so, Raditz sat back on his heels and Yamcha found himself abruptly plastered against Raditz’s back.  Yamcha didn’t freeze, but he did come to the sudden realization that he had absolutely no problems with this situation whatsoever.  Raditz’s tail brushed against his ankle and a tingle rushed up his spine.  Interesting.

Yamcha took a measured step back.  Raditz looked over his shoulder at him with one eyebrow raised and then grinned in a way that implied, yeah, he had totally just done that on purpose.  Yamcha grinned back.

Mark that down as another surprising thing about Goku’s older brother.

I’m blaming Green for this one too but I’m less mad about it for some reason. I just. I should write more for Space Bandit. It’s a Good Ship. (Even if I was super hesitant at first because “eeehhhhh they never met in canon” but I don’t care anymore I can totally see how it could work)

Do you think Raditz and Yamcha have a couple from the main group they double date with? if so who? and what do they end up doing?

I honestly don’t see them going on dates a lot - hanging out together, yes, but not really formal going to movies and stuff. Maybe a concert in a park or something, but even that would be pretty casual. They do spend time together - they talk, they spar, they have meals and stuff - it’s simply one of those more ‘casual but very close’ relationships. Suddenly they’re together a lot more often. If anyone’s double-dating in that group, I’d see it being more Goku and Chichi with Krillin and 18 to be honest.

So, what sparked the initial relationship between Raditz and Yamcha?

I think Raditz started getting attracted to Yamcha in a “I want to be more than friends” sort of way at some point near the beginning of or slightly prior to the infamous Three Year Gap, but held off since Yamcha was with Bulma. Once Bulma and Yamcha broke up, he made a move - it actually happened a lot sooner than he’d intended it to, it just sorta worked out that way. Basically he made his interest known and then let Yamcha decide whether or not to pursue it. (This is a scene I actually have written - I might type it up and post it at some point). Then it’s a ‘friends to lovers’ sort of deal.

My problem

Seeing people I follow (in whatever format) put up ask memes for couples and stuff and saying ‘come on and send me anything.’ This is a problem because part of me instantly sits and goes ‘I WANNA ASK ABOUT RADCHA/SPACE BANDIT’ and the rest of me smacks that part down and goes ‘OMG, STOP BUGGING PEOPLE ABOUT YOUR FREAKING CRACKSHIP ALREADY!!!’ ‘BUT I WANT TO KNOOOOOW~’ ‘NO! BAD! NO BISCUIT!’

And then I end up not sending any asks at all and I feel bad because this cool person has requested asks and I haven’t given them any, and they don’t seem to be answering any asks so maybe no one else sent them asks and they wanted to do this but now they have none to do, so I am FAILING THEM.

(...I have a rather unique/neurotic mindset at times... >_>)
