Revisiting Hollow Knight now that I can play it on my DualShock instead of killing my hands with the Switch buttons.

And I’ve… apparently gotten a lot better at video games since the very first time I tried playing it. Like damn.

I’ve only died three times so far.

I’m only on Green Path, but, dude, I was stuck in the opening area for AGES originally. This time, once I got my eye in (and stopped being ruled by hubris from restarting on my Switch Lite briefly before my PS4 copy arrived), I took out the False Knight on my second try.

Remembering that time my friend and I went through airport customs together. I was 18; she was 19. Both of us are pasty AF. I got to play Twenty Questions of “Are you SURE you’re not a terrorist?” She got asked if her parents knew where she was.

Oh, the joys of having resting axe murderer face when I’m tired and/or stressed.

Started RE9 again - on my own this time instead of switching off with my husband between Grace and Leon. (He played Grace’s parts and I played Leon’s.) When we “co-oped” it, we played on his PS account. Since I’m playing it on my PS account this time, I had to do all the settings again at the beginning of the game before starting. I fiddled with the brightness, turned off subtitles, and switched Grace to third person. Super easy!

I started a new game. I frowned in confusion, because Grace’s boss sounded wrong as he called her name. I could have sworn his voice actor had a deeper voice. Then Grace’s boss got to her cubicle… and started going off at her in French.

Turns out I didn’t just turn off subtitles when I was adjusting the language/audio settings. So that made the opening cut scenes extremely surreal.

Me: Man, I started playing Hollow Knight again but I’d really rather be playing it on my PS5 than my Switch - the Switch buttons are hell on my wrists for this level of platforming. …Well, I’m always happy to give Team Cherry more money for their excellent work, and it’s only $15 in the PlayStation e-store-

Sony: We will no longer be producing physical games starting in 2028 as we have definitely never before broken the public trust by deleting purchased digital movies that people paid us for off their consoles without permission! :)

Me: On second thought, fuck your e-store, Sony. I’m going to hunt down a physical copy of the PS4 release of Hollow Knight instead. Thanks for confirming yet again that I won’t be buying a PS6.
