Project 2: Living on Mars
The idea of our project is to create and design a open source learning activity package for educators around the world. The LAP will be formatted and designed with grade 9-10 students in mind with the ultimate goal in creating a sustainable development plan for a habitat on Mars. Students will learn about communication with others on Mars and with Earth. Travel and new ideas on how we plan on arriving on Mars. Creating and developing an idea about housing on Mars. How to filter and possibly obtain water and develop a food source for their habitat. Lastly students will need to plan to power the house/habitat.

Space Apps Winnipeg takes off!
Space Apps Challenge Participants arrive at the University of Manitoba
The Winnipeg Space Apps Challenge commenced on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 10am at the University of Manitoba where engineers, scientists, teachers, designers, and developers joined together to solve projects to benefit life in space and on Earth.
This is part of the largest hackathon in history with more than 8,500 participants working for 83 hours in 83 countries on all 7 continents. This is an excellent opportunity for UMSATS to help promote space exploration activities to the Winnipeg community.
