I just binged almost 40 chapters of Witch Hat Atelier and I got so stressed at points that I started reading Witch Hat Kitchen instead. I sat in call with my bf mumbling “this is so fucked up” and “nooooo” and “what the fuck” and “this is not happening” for a solid 20 minutes. It’s so sad, it’s so well written, everyone should give it a try TRUST ME.

And now I’m caught up and I have nothing to do until the next chapter and no one I know personally has read it :(

Okay I’m reading Project Hail Mary for the first time with very little background knowledge, and I’m at the part where Grace is having a flashback from the Chinese ship. And I have a theory about Tau Ceti and why it’s not dimming despite being at the center of a network of infected stars.

Astrophages are alive, they’re microorganisms. Tau Ceti must be home to a different alien life form that either 1) preys on astrophages, 2) produces something that kills astrophages (maybe a competitor species, or one that lives on stars and has evolved this mechanism to prevent its home stars from dying out?), 3) there’s some sort of barrier preventing the astrophages from reaching Tau Ceti. I think it’s probably 1 or 2.
