yeah yes to both of these???? like

there is a difference between tagging for the usual shit that people don't want to see like blood or gore or flashy gifs like that is just common decency it's like tumblr manners obviously some places on the internet are going to have different customs than others just like how you aren't going to talk about the same stuff at school in front of a teacher as you would somewhere private with your friends

but there's also this whole aspect of it that takes real issues and finds the tiniest most tangentially related incidents in shithole corners of the internet and then blows them up like they are major life-or-death events and obviously what counts as a major issue is going to change from person to person but doing that kind of shit is what helped things like crying out "ableism" and making fun of trigger warnings so widespread??? i don't even know this is a really long post i am sorry tumblr you have the right to be deeply angered by whatever you are deeply angered by but you have to pick your battles a bit more selectively than this
