Abominations. Spoiler alert: If you are playing Space Station Zero, you will need some minis like this for one of the encounters. I found these on Etsy and they are delightfully freaky, they look like concept extras from The Thing.

Abominations. Spoiler alert: If you are playing Space Station Zero, you will need some minis like this for one of the encounters. I found these on Etsy and they are delightfully freaky, they look like concept extras from The Thing.
Abomination in progress, part of a pack of five. Each of the five abominations are different so it's a fun group to paint, I've decided that they are a spaceship scavenger crew that explored one derelict spaceship too many.
Psychic jellyfish from Mantic's Star Saga and Warpath. The one on the left is plastic and the one on the right is white metal. The metal one came unassembled, it was a little bit tricky to get all those underhung tentacles in place. They have some neat powers in the games in that they can use mental blasts that don't require line of sight, and when they get into close combat their tentacles will flail around and hit everything close to them, friend and foe alike. They're fun little models and I wanted to play with some blue tones like I showed in a previous post.
I'm taking a short break from painting D&D minis because I finally found the Mantic Star Saga Minis that I thought were lost. It turns out they weren't lost, I had just primed them black and couldn't see them. First up is another Plague boss, the one on the left I did a year ago, the one on the right is the newest addition to the Plague horde. And a helper bot that can serve as the R2 unit for my Galactic mercenary forces once they get painted.
The robot is "Curby" and the Plague brutes are actually Aberrations.
Star Saga objective item (the virus in a cool case), and a bag of gear that I think gives you an ammo reroll if you are lugging it around. These are two items that could easily have just been tokens, but I'm rather glad that they were physical objects because then it gave me something to paint and it's actually easier to keep track of a 3D object on the board, even though it can cause a little more clutter.
I am still working on my dry brush techniques, and in the picture there are two brushes; one of them is a professional dry brush that cost $7 and is starting to fall apart in the middle. The other was part of a makeup brush set from a dollar store and is not falling apart. They both work about the same, but if the cheap one breaks it's easier to replace. I found out about the dollar store makeup brushes by watching Tabletop Minions channel on YouTube where he has tons of great tips for miniature gaming and I highly recommend it.
The Tortle Sorcerer is trying to decide which brush deserves his wrath.
I am working through the Mantic Star Saga characters and Mercenaries, here's the chief of security making sure all the doors for the facility are ready for action.
Guard Commander Graves
Crates! This is the last of the objective marker crates from the Star Saga set. This particular painting experiment was to base all the crates and metallics and then see how the metallics responded to contrast colors.
The pale blue contrast still has no real effect on anything it touches, but it does look nice in the bottle.
It's the Asterian Sky Skimmer and the heavy drone support! Actually I don't remember what the marionette is riding, but they should be the last of the Asterian pieces from Mantic's Warpath for me to do. These will make good enemies in deserted space stations. On this project I decided to play with purple and gold, because I never use purple.
