The little tree creature peeked up from behind a corner that was only a few feet away from his friend. He looked up at the other, but remained silent for now. He’d let Rocket search for him first, but eventually his excited nature got the better of him when his friend mentioned that he’d brought his favourite treats.

“I am Groot!”      Here!

Rocket spun around, a big, dumb grin on his furry face as he spotted his little twig. Their dynamic had changed dramatically since Groot had to grow up. Rocket used to grumble at the tree, giving him a milder dose of his sarcasm while big Groot knew to take it with a grain of salt and could see through his friend’s prickles. Little Groot though, Rocket just couldn’t say a mean word to the little guym he just wouldn’t understand the raccoon’s teasing. “So that’s where ya were hidin’, not a bad spot twig.” A gentle paw scooped him up, setting him down on Rockt’s workbench so he could keep an eye on the twig while he worked. “Here ya go, but ya don’t get all of it. Gotta save some for later when ya belly decides it wants more.” Grabbing a small cup he poured a small measure of the treats into it, passing it to Groot before stowing the rest of the bag away for later.
