@spankingood — – oliver
this exercise has failed on every level. roger didn’t start out hating wood, he in fact quite respected the guy ( at least on the field. the rest is a different matter, ) but now things aren’t looking quite as rosy. it is irritating that he even has to participate in this project in the first place —– apparently, quidditch matches have gotten too ‘ out of hand ’, whatever that means, and now the players are forced to spend time together to ‘ understand each other’s perspectives better ’, a futile attempt at alleviating the tension between the houses.
it’s true that matches this season are rowdier than ever, and that the fans get more and more riled up every time, which affects the school climate even outside of quidditch, animosity and polarization between them rising, but that’s hardly roger’s fault. he blames slytherin and gryffindor, they are ever the troublemakers, but of course, the rest gets to suffer the consequences.
when he saw himself paired with oliver wood, roger had seriously thought this would be easy. wood is one of the eldest, after all, and a team captain as well, but by now roger has the feeling that he as a fifth-year is more mature and responsible than this seventh-year. it is irritating, especially when they are forced to spend every free hour of the day by each other’s side. class is the exception, roger has gotten a few hours of peace from wood this morning, but it is not enough. immediately afterward he has to return to their meeting spot if he doesn’t want to risk getting house points docked.
they’re still at that same spot, by a window in the corridor where wood had his last lesson, although it is long over. the stream of pupils eager for leisure time has passed them, now it’s just them, and they’re still arguing. it’s not even a question for roger, but wood makes it one. he wouldn’t get hung up on such a minute detail if it wasn’t for the principle of it. by now he is bored having to repeat himself over and over again, but the other refuses to listen.
“ well, i don’t want to do that right now. if we both have schoolwork to do, it would be the most logical solution to go to the library now and then we can decide on what else to do. how does that not make sense to you? this should be about mutual respect, right, so why are you trying to dictate everything? ”
