Of all Arlong's crew, who are those who aren't orphans? And those who are?

I didn't think that hard, Sorry! But here are the kids! I didn't plan as much because I'm still working on fleshing out the whole crew. If I had the time, I'd like to go through all of Oda's sketches and manga/anime images for the Arlong Pirates and take all the men's design and create a full crew portrait. But I don't think I'll be doing that, it's a lot of work and I might prefer creating OCs ☀️

I always want Hatchan to be the baby but nope, it's Chew/Chu/Choo (train) ✨ Now I'm thinking Arlong might have babysat a lot of kids and I love it. He also had to raise his sister for a while so...

Can we talk about the sensitivity of the fishmen's fins? How is it that just touching them makes a person shudder? Depending on the type of fin it can vary? and their capabilities?

Of course we can! As usual, all my headcanons to fit my story obviously (or logic I apply when creating any type of fish people)

There are two types of fins. First the thin « fish fin », it a thin membrane that can be more decorative, helps in direction while swimming, can help in heat regulation and feel subtle changes in the environment (current, temperatures). They are rather fragile and very sensitive, can be damage if bent and stuff like that. I also decided (cause it’s fun) that they react to emotions (by increased blood flow) to intimidate or parade.

Then we’re got « shark fin » (work for ray fishmen too) that are way less fragile and so also less sensitive. Although they do help with regulation temperatures, they are not as influenced by blood flow. They do however play a role in electro perception! (By the way, using strong Victorian woman as a ref for Pyke here, do look it up)

So, Momoo is a female because she is referred to in the fandom as "sea cow". If I'm wrong, correct me.

I feel very tender because she is so noble and great. I wonder how Arlong managed to take her away, because it would be very difficult to do so by brute force. 🌊🐮🧡

Hi! Well first thanks for your enthusiasm, I honestly didn’t know there were that many Moomoo lovers out there ! Here have a Moomoo ☀️

Then, I mean, I understand your point but I’ve only seen Moomoo referenced as him but I’ve mostly read the manga in French where he’s referred to as a Sea Bovine (not that the original French translation is the best). But I suppose things are pretty ambiguous with monsters in OP. Something that I find very interesting is that Moomoo is not a Sea King technically but just a super big monster! And is considered as not a dangerous monster either, but only ends up being dangerous because following the Arlong Pirates orders :o

There are many ways the pirates could have taken Moomoo with them (Moomoo is shown to be scared of Arlong after all) but I like to believe the beast was just happy to follow them. Hachi knows what their favourite food is and calls them for lunch but is not worried when they don’t show up, thinking they just went to eat somewhere else. The Arlong Pirates care for each other so my take is that they bonded with Moomoo. I could be entirely wrong but it is my wishful headcanon, no Moomoo hurt in the process 🐮

J'ai une hypothèse. La fille avec qui Pyke marche n'est pas du territoire d'Arlong, OU lorsque Pyke montait la garde, il l'a vue et l'a appréciée.

Answering this so late, it is from august…English : « I have an hypothesis. The girl walking with Pyke (referring to Pyke’s dating preferences from another ask) isn’t from Arlong’s territory OR she saw him while on duty and liked her. »

So technically, that woman is for futur Pyke, post Arlong Park and all (like multiple years) but you are right about some of those islanders ;)

With special guest Yeah-I-have-high-standards Shioyaki. I wasn’t too sure about having Pyke stray with some women from their territory but you out there were all so enthusiastic about Pyke that I just rolled with it.

I wonder what was Hachi's reaction when he learned about Biri getting beat up by Kuroobi and Arlong last chapter

He's cute though 🌞🐙 (based on the fact that Hatchan shows no remorse for kidnaping Nami and all, whatever feelings Fisher Tiger and Koala brought out of him, it was buried again during Arlong Park)
