Aaron looked on as Jack reached up to place the star on the top of the tree, from his perch on Spencer’s shoulders. The tree they stood in front of was messily and lopsidedly decorated, although that was par for the course when the primary person in charge of said decoration was six years old. It was nothing like the extravagant and perfectly decorated trees that Aaron had grown up with, something that he was grateful for. There was nothing homely, personal about a tree that no one could touch for fear of disrupting the placement of the ornaments. It was just cold, and cold was something that Aaron was done with, at least in his own home.

“Uh, Hotch? If I could rearrange the alphabet, I’d put ‘U’ and ‘I’ together.”
The moment was running through repeat in Aaron’s head. Spencer had said that to him as he handed over his files before leaving.
It was strange, remarkably un-Spencer-like. He was never flirty, not like Morgan and Garcia, and even if he were, it was never towards him. The pick up line was remarkably forward for the young man as well - Spencer tended to be subtle in his affection, even platonically, and Aaron had always assumed he was far too shy and awkward to ever use something like that. The best explanation Aaron’s mind could come up with was that Spencer had been dared to do it, by someone else on the team. Probably Prentiss or Morgan. He couldn’t let himself entertain the other possibility.
Invitation | A Spellbound RP Fic
Aaron's room was fairly quiet as he and Spencer sat on opposite ends of his bed, highlighting and writing long paragraphs for their homework. They were propped up with pillows, leaning against the wall and the bedframe for support, their legs slightly intertwined. The untucked sheets pooled around their limbs and a corner of the blanket was tucked across Spencer's abdomen.
The two had spent most of their time like this in the last few weeks. They would go to class, grab dinner in the cafeteria, and make their way to his room for homework and a bit of television afterwards as a reward. Most nights, Spencer made it back to her bed, but often times she found herself falling asleep in Aaron's arms and he never seemed to mind. Although it was a bit antisocial and there were rumours floating around the school that the two of them had basically vanished from the face of the earth, they were both content with their routine. Tyler always made sure that they at least interacted with one person outside their cone of romance.
They were alone in the room now and Aaron had put on some of her favourite music as they worked. Spencer's thoughts were deeply absorbed by her etymology paper until her boyfriend cleared his throat gently before speaking.
"Hey, Spence?"
She looked up from her papers, letting the grip on her pen loosen, wondering what was on his mind. "What's up, baby?" she asked.
Spencer watched as Aaron thought for a moment about what he wanted to say--or how to say what he wanted to say--before offering her a smile. "It's almost Thanksgiving," he stated matter-of-factly, draping his arms across his law assignment. She watched him curiously until he spoke again. "My family always has this really big dinner that we invite all of our relatives to and there's turkey and ham and all these good things to eat.."
He trailed off his sentence when he realized he was rambling and inhaled deeply. Aaron chuckled to himself and she could see bewilderment etched on his face. "That sounds really great.." she commented hesitantly with a small smile.
"Yeah, it is," he confirmed, nodding his head. He looked down at his papers for a brief moment before meeting her gaze again. "Do you think you might want to come down to Arizona with me for the holiday and meet my family and stuff? It's no big deal if you don't want to, it's just that I know you're not going home and I really want to take you with me and.."
Although he was going to continue speaking, his train of thought had been broken by the physical presence of his girlfriend, who had crawled over and was now perched on the bed next to him. Spencer did not say anything at first, ideas running wildly through her mind. She had a million and one concerns about meeting the Andersons, but she had been hoping this moment would come soon and she was all too happy to accept.
Without warning, she leaned in and kissed him, lifting a hand to touch his cheek gently. When they pulled back, their foreheads met and Spencer felt a wide smile grace her lips. "Yes," she whispered, looking straight into his eyes. "I would love to. Thank you for asking."
Suddenly, she felt Aaron's strong arms wrap around her waist and found herself sitting in his lap, their homework tossed aside. "Thank you for saying yes.." he whispered before leaning in for another kiss. "Although.. I probably would have taken you with me even if you had said no! I'm glad I didn't have to use force, though." Spencer gently smacked him on the arm before pulling him in for another kiss. Although her own family no longer accepted her, she was ready to do whatever she could to impress his. He was her family now and she could not wait to be a part of his.
You waited for me in the rain, in the parking lot Cold hands, lips blue, clothes stuck to you You could have phoned me for a ride, it's a mess out there You said 'the rain's the rain, some air'd be good for you'
Seasons are changing And waves are crashing And stars are falling all for us Days grow longer and nights grow shorter I can show you I'll be the one
