It had been a month since the boy had returned to his home in the woods and Atreus had spent it recovering from the journey and enjoying his father´s and Mimir´s company as the latter told them stories of the gods of old and about fierce encounters with hidden meanings that Atreus loved to decipher.
However, even though they were at peace for a while, Atreus knew in his heart that it wouldn´t last long. He could see it in his father´s eyes, it was time.
So as the young god carved a few new runes on his bow in front of the fire, he casted a glance towards his father and spoke softly, regretting that he was interrupting the calm silence but knowing he had to or else it would continue to eat at him.
“Father, do you think I´ll be able to wield mom´s axe as well? I really want to learn to fight like you do.”

“Who hurt you? WHAT hurt you?”
Okay, so Atreus had known he’d have to come up with some explanation for why he limped home, clothes torn and bloodied. During the long walk back, made longer by the care he took with each motion of his injured left leg, he’d thought about what he would tell Kratos.
About how he had handled the situation as best he could. About how he’d given almost as good as he got, wounding the strange creature with knife and arrows alike until it fled from him–never mind that he had no longer been in any state for fleeing fast after it surprised him with claws and teeth.
All of that went out the window when he saw the expression on his father’s face.
“…Something is in our woods, Father. Something big.”
❛ nice weapon. hope you’re not compensating for anything. ❜

"You wish to celebrate the Lupercalia?" For the first time in a long time, he is.. confused. Yes, Kratos is Greek, but he also is familiar with Roman tradition, which is what he thought Faye meant by wanting to celebrate today, and the certain /fertility/ festival that the Roman's had on the Ides of February. "That is where they skin a goat and slap women with the pelt," He pauses, then resigns himself to continue "to make the woman fertile."
“As fun as that potentially sounds, mitt hjärta, I prefer the goat remain unharmed and such a sacrifice would be seen more as an offering to Thor, here.”
This was far from the first time they’d encountered…. cultural differences though most were not this bizarre – aside from the issue of marital rites, perhaps. “No, what I speak of is dedicated to showing others how much you care for them, whether friends or lovers. No whipping or fertility involved.“
A brow arches again, though this time accompanied by something more akin to a smirk than her earlier confusion. “Perhaps that part can come later.”
@spartanraged replied to your post: @horsetm whomst raised this child
it sure as hell wasn’t me
I'm not to blame for this
“True enough. Speaking of children though, have you given it any more thought?”

Faye: Wait.Kratos: What is that smell?Faye: Níðstang, or Scorn Pole. See, there? The smoke is the visual manifestation of a curse. You don’t want to breathe that. Or touch it at all.Kratos: Then how do we pass?Faye: Watch.throws the axe, freezing the poleFaye: A temporary fix. But it will allow us by.
Faye: Do you believe in fate?Kratos: Fate is a lie the gods tell. We choose our path.Faye: In this land, not even the gods can escape their fate.
Kratos: The way you fight...Faye: Hmm?Kratos: It is not like anything I have seen before.Faye: I’m not surprised, I wasn’t trained from birth to be a warrior.Kratos: No, I mean it is -- beautiful. Faye: I --- oh. Thank you.
