Special Episode 35: Wake Up Dead Man

On a very special special episode of Fansplaining…FLOURISH RETURNS!!! To—what else—discuss a film about a priest. Fresh off an in-theater viewing of the third Knives Out installment, Flourish and Elizabeth dive into Wake Up Dead Man, a film that offered beautiful resonance and representation for Flourish (a literal priest) and Elizabeth (a literal person from the Albany area). Topics discussed include the relationship between Father Jud and Benoit Blanc, Blanc’s investment in the idea of justice, and, you know, a bunch of priest stuff!! Plus: Flourish updates listeners on their life over the past 18 months, and Elizabeth gives a sneak preview of the big changes coming to Fansplaining in 2026.

I watched the finale and special episodes of My Stubborn (on airplanes!) when they were released this summer yet didn't write anything about them and since I'm a completionist, I've decided to write a quick-ish colors post since I wrote about every episode before this (and now I can also revisit some of my favorite moments from the episodes as a little Christmas treat).

(Like color-coded boys in love using lube!)

But first, for the record (of my blog and my archive), I will remain salty that the special episodes did not include Thai and Champ and that the episodes weren't about their wedding.

But I still got that Sorn x Jun chemistry and the colors.

Like the pink = 💕love💕 lighting

A few times!

So in this dumpster fire of a year, I'm glad I got a messy Black Brooder who never told his boyfriend he owned the club he frequently visited.

And an even messier Heavenly Human.

Who ended up matching his boy's freak.

And his color.

A few times.

Yet stayed true to who he was the whole way through.

Which caused Sorn to lightened up.

In multiple ways.

As messy as this couple and this show were, Sorn and Jun were truly a great balance for each.

Because they cared about each other in the same ways.

But they also knew how to exchange colors and responsibilities when needed.

Even if it took Sorn sometime to get it together and let Jun in to his heart marked by that little white patch over his heart.

But once he did, Jun gave his whole heart to Sorn, which is also marked by the little black over his heart.

So thanks to this color-coded show that came out of nowhere and took my heart.

It understood the colors assignment from the very beginning to the very end.

It brought the color exchanges.

It brought the lighting.

It also brought headaches.

But it brought the domesticity.

And it brought the chemistry.

Then some more chemistry.

The absolute ultimate pink and blue adorable date of all time. Just... all time. Everyone else is disqualified. No one can come close to how adorable they are.

As there are an episode of this new sort of spin-off (with the second releasing next week) having as subject a specific animal. And also a different Super Wings being alongside Jett, i'm wondering if there will be others episodes of the same kind for the future with different SW members as guests planned.
