Moving Forward
Yesterday (December 28, 2011) was an incredible day, as has the last week for our company. Aeir Talk was featured on the front page (!) of our local newspaper here in Norfolk, The Virginian Pilot. It was an incredible article, well written, and it moved many of us on the Aeir Talk team to tears to see what Aeir Talk is doing for so many people. That brought us a lot of traffic, more than we were expecting but the very next day (yesterday) a blog post about our app and founder on The Startup Toolkit (http://thestartuptoolkit.com/blog/2011/12/a-man-a-mop-a-year-and-an-app-joseph-hill-on-aeir-talk/) by Rob Fitzpatrick was featured on the front page of Y Combinator's 'Hacker News." Then things got real. Calls and emails of all sorts are now coming it with feedback and questions from all over the world. We are starting to get hits from places like the Netherlands, Sweden, Chile, Iceland, Japan, the list goes on and on. This is so exciting and it is just what we wanted. We are not ones to sit on our laurels, however, and we wanted to reach out and tell you, our users, how we are going to take two small steps to make Aeir Talk better. Step 1: Please, with a cherry on top, please write iTunes reviews. We love feedback, it is very validating! :) We can use your help to boost our status in the iTunes store by good reviews and by giving us ideas on how to make Aeir Talk better. So that is sort of a step for us to ask for help, and hopefully for you to give us that help (yes that sounds weird but we don't know how else to put it). Step 2: We are going to incorporate a feature called "Word of the Day" for our Twitter and Facebook followers. Every so often we will be putting up a "Word of the Day" which will be an object or action and ask you to take pictures of that and send it in to [email protected]. We will choose our favorites and post them to Twitter and Facebook (with your permission of course). Some might even have a prize attached but that will be in the future and we'll let you know about that. This is sort of an experiment to see if we can make the practice of creating new cards easier. For those who don't have a ton of time to take a lot of pictures, they can select new ones on our Twitter or Facebook feed and put them onto their own iPads to make adding new cards easier. Later we want to have a site solely dedicated to this, but for now this should be a fun game for all of us to play and gives more incentives to follow us on Twitter (@aeir_talk) and on Facebook (www.facebook.com/aeirtalk). Anyway, it has been a wonderful few weeks here, and it is just the beginning of what looks like a great journey to make Aeir Talk better and better. Thanks for listening and have a great day. Joe Hill, Founder www.aeirtalk.com
