Hey, Misty! I've been meaning to send you a message for a while, but I just wanted to say that the Surreal Darkness series is one of my favorite things to see on my dash. It's such a visceral, well-written commentary on depression, or at least that's how I interpret it (as someone who's struggled with depression for many years). I love the slight horror vibe it has too. Keep up the great work! You're an amazing storyteller.
Oh my gosh, oh my gosh!!! Thank you!! :)
Putting a readmore because this gets real personal and overshare-y, lol.
I've heard that before, about it being about depression. That's interesting to me. I'm not sure if I was depressed but I definitely was traumatized, and going through that in my 20s and early 30s. Actually I think the time when I was writing Surreal Darkness was around when I really started to heal. The bits posting right now are based in my experience of nearly bleeding to death from a hemorrhaging ulcer in 2011, and I think recovering from that was the beginning of healing, writing SD and Emo Pistols was the next part, getting meds was next, and then just...getting older and wiser.
I'm on escitalopram now and it's really really helped an amazing lot too. So yeah, between meds, my writing, and getting older I'm doing pretty good these days.
Maybe when it's done being reblogged I'll write some new bits. It's harder for me to write these days because my job is busier now so I'm more stressed and tired when I get home than I used to be, and also my husband has been obsessed with Korean dramas since 2019 so I watch two episodes a night with him, which means less writing time. Maybe I could work out a system to get back to it though. We'll see.
Speaking of Korean dramas, one we watched recently had a concept of a Flame Reaper, a Grim Reaper who only collects the spirits of those who died from fire. Could definitely write something in Sims about that. :)
Anyway, I'm worried about how I'm coming off here and oversharing too much so I'll stop, but I just wanted to say:
I really really really truly appreciate this message, very much a lot. Thank you, really and deeply from my heart. I hope you're doing better now too. And also I love your Sims and your posts and I'm very glad I found you on here. Thank you for being on my dash. :)
Also I want to tell anyone reading this who may be going through it right now that you can heal, you can get better, and staying alive to see that day is worth it. I promise. I know what I'm talking about. ;) And if you need medicine as part of reaching that day, there's no shame in that. There's no shame in any of it, really.
You are all of infinite worth and beauty no matter where you are in your journey through being alive, and if it helps you get through it you can think "Hey, that stranger on the internet said that she would always love me and that I am beautiful and good and full of worth, so there, you silly brain!" Because it's true, I will and you are, all of you.
My brother talking about my father. Want to save it. I had said that my mother tells me I’m a lot like my father, who died a month after I turned seven.
My brother’s father, my mother’s first husband, died last week, 35 years after my father even though my brothers are 10 and 12 years older than me.
So he was talking about how he wished I’d had my father for longer and how my father raised him.
Hello! I just wanted to tell you that I really really love your surreal series so much. It’s hit every point that I like in a story so far and both the human and the darkness are endearing and likeable characters. I’d buy a series about them, is how much I like them. :) Thank you for writing! You’re an inspiration!
Thank you for sending me this! :) Your art of the human and the darkness was everything I could want and more, and I am very grateful for both it and this comment. Thank you very much, kind human. :)
Putting this in my special tag for looking at when I need it. :)
just wanted to say that I remember reading your Surreal Darkness story a few years ago and it made me cry and unlocked shrimp emotions and I've thought about it several times since. glad to see you again!
I hope it's okay that I am answering this in public and keeping it forever. Thank you so very very very much!!! :)
You are in luck, because I'm doing a challenge this month to post a bit of surreal darkness every day. Like NaNo for but silly Sims story posts. :)
I developed bad tinnitus so I didn't write for a while, and then the spousal person got obsessed with Korean dramas and I started watching them with him, so I haven't written much for a long time.
I still have some tinnitus but I've adapted and learned to live with it and it's not as bad as it was at the beginning, and I think I burned myself out on games finally. So this month is about trying to find some time to write a quick little post every day yay! And thank you, again. That really means a lot always forever.
I’ve been reading your blog for a while and I’ve never had a simblr before but I just wanted to tell you how much I love your surreal darkness story and it’s part of what inspired me to start creating sims stories ❤️
Oh my gosh oh my gosh thank you!!!!
I followed you and I hope to get to read your story and I hope you have lots of fun with it and if you get any trolls I will kick them and also now we are friends yay!
Learn about the scientific evidence that supports the long-term safety of COVID-19 vaccines.
Since I saw an anon on another blog talking about long term effects of vaccines and for some reason comparing vaccines to Thalidomide, here is a good resource about the history of side effects of vaccines and how generally any side effects will show up within 8 weeks or so of receiving the vaccine. Also, with one exception, the side effects are also things that can happen if you catch the disease the vaccine is for.
