@specialolympicsusa @specialolympics As of right now I’m not allowed to go to the state competition. This morning we learnt from Elizabeth Francis who is the area director of @specialolympicswashington that because I was not entered during the “pre registration” stage (instead I was entered before the “final” registration), I won’t be allowed to go to the winter games next week. This came to a complete surprise to me and my coaches as we all had understood that anyone up until the “final” registration was allowed to go, not only the pre registered people. This was not the case ever before. Several of the coaches have been trying to contact the higher ups to try and rectify the situation, but they keep telling them to talk to Elizabeth who refuses to even listen to the coaches, to our understanding. I am not the only one being hurt by this. Despite had having previous conversations with Elizabeth, when we had first entered, she did not make any of this information available, and in fact barely gave us any information at all despite us asking for help to understood so we wouldn’t be having this problem. An apathetic, uncooperative, and uncaring person should not be working with disabled people. This has been my first experience with the #specialolympics and if it is always like this, then that is truly terrible to all the people who try to join. If we had been told upfront that the preregistration was the only registration allowed, then we wouldn’t have any problems, but because she kept this information from everyone, it has caused a very large issue The complete unprofessional actions of Elizabeth and the fact that only people who “pre” registered are allowed to go, is completely ridiculous. This whole situation has caused me several stress and extreme disappointment, and loss of money.
