NVGs on point 👀 this operator can see clearly, think critically, fall down and get back up thanks to his high #omega3 intake protecting brain and eye health while reducing inflammation and fighting injury. Omega 3s include walnuts, avocado, flaxseed, flaxseed oil chia seeds, almonds, canola oil, olive oil, salmon, sardines, mackerel, tuna, seaweed 🥑🍣 Original artwork by me! #focusfuelfight #specialtactics #operatornutrition #performancedietitian
#omega3fattyacids .... there are 3 different types (ALA, EPA & DHA) found in many foods! Eat a source EVERYDAY and aim to eat a EPA/DHA source specifically at least once a week (if not more!!!) Why? Because Omega3 fatty acids are ESSENTIAL in your diet... meaning that without eating them, your body cannot make them, and your body will start to decline with deficiency. Fatty acids are critical components to EVERY cell membrane in your body. They protect cells. They reduce inflammation. They promote cardiovascular health. And may enhance cognitive function. So without eating them you put your heart, brain, immune system, and performance at risk. Why the focus on EPA/DHA? Because ALA itself does not have a direct function in your body ...but it converts to EPA or DHA once consumed which are the compounds with functions in your body. And unfortunately it is not a 1:1 conversion... only about 10-12% of the ALA consumed in converted. Thus your ALA sources are good... but the direct EPA & DHA are better. Many operators take fish oil supplements as they are a good source of EPA (with a little DHA) and reduce whole body inflammation from chronic stress and injury. I recommend 2g @nordicnaturals per day. For the special tactics population I also HIGHLY recommend a direct DHA supplement as DHA is concentrated in the brain and protects from concussions, TBI, and even sub-concussive head trauma. @brain.armor is my #1 go-to brand! Take 1-2g of DHA/day and ALWAYS continue to eat all the foods with all three sources of omega 3! #focusfuelfight #performancedietitian #specialtactics #eathealthyshit
