once again lol this show is handling the whole santos-langdon conflict with too much nuance for anyone on the internet to know how to process it
santos doesn’t have to accept langdons apology at all but asking him to go through a humiliation ritual of gathering the whole ER and telling them what he did feels more like projection of her own feelings. he humiliated her in front of other residents while in active addiction/withdrawal? now she’s going to ask him to do the same to “atone for his sins”. like im sorry but wanting an addict to go to jail feels a bit like cop behaviour lol
also langdon isn’t in denial his apology to louie showed that hes aware he committed a crime
like everyone in the hospital already knows why langdon was gone, and im pretty sure the hospital would’ve conducted some kind of investigation into a senior resident entering an addiction program. i would assume protocol would have them checking prescription history
both robby and santos are treating langdon the same exact way. robby because he doesn’t know how to process losing his protégé and the fact that langdon actually humbled himself, got help and actually came back. and santos because shes got very clear abuse related trauma and mental health issues. they’re both reacting the same way and parts of it does feel like projection.
whitaker knows what langdon did cuz he was the one calling in the opioids for louie, garcia knows cuz of her situationship with santos and being the first person santos told after langdon was sent home, dana and samira are aware and mckay is an addict herself and offers her support to him. which imo everyone else there is reacting in a normal semi detached way except robby and santos
and santos saying langdon came back from rehab and went back to being the golden boy when thats obviously false, and her telling garcia she feels like a pariah because she “snitched” on langdon and then being told shes a pariah because of her attitude and her wanting him to humiliate himself to make it up to her, like these aren’t rational responses and she’s clearly dealing with her own shit and not to forget we know that her best friend took her own life and shes dealt with sexual abuse as a child
santos is right in that langdon should have dealt with the repercussions of stealing drugs and she’s also wrong in some ways cuz addiction is a disease and there has never been good outcomes to drug related charges. rehabilitation is the way to go not prison. robby knew that too and its why langdons in a 5 year program.
theres no right or wrong here. santos has a lot of unprocessed trauma and langdons been through the wringer and trying to find his bearings too.
