CW: gun violence, death scenes, light use of swear words-please dni if any of these might be triggering to you!!
*this is a complete rewrite and repost
The light from your computer burned your eyes as the clock turned twelve, signalling that you had been stuck at your desk for well over twelve hours now. One more paragraph, you told yourself. You had been telling yourself the same thing for the last four hours at least and this time, you meant it. You were on the last paragraph of the second to last chapter of your new book and you decided this was a good stopping point for the night. You could edit what you had written in the morning and finish with some daylight still left-hopefully. You sat up and stretched, your eyes slightly watering from your lack of blinking in the last hour or so. Your body ached but you ignored it, making a mental note to take more breaks tomorrow when editing so your spine won’t hold a grudge against you again. Walking out of your home office you headed to the kitchen to take a melatonin and make some warm tea before retiring for the night. Your apartment wasn’t small but it wasn’t grand either-perfect for you and your cat Boob that you’ve had since childhood. Your tea kettle whistled angrily and you poured your tea, taking a sip way too soon and burning your tongue in the process. I have got to stop doing that, you think as you turn off your apartment lights and retire to your bedroom.
“Boob!” You called out into the dark and empty apartment, hearing the bell of Boobs collar and tiny footsteps running your way. Boob ran into your bedroom and you closed the door and settled into your bed with Boob at your feet. You grabbed the remote to your lights, your favorite and most useful investment by far, and turned out your lights. The last thing you remember hearing is the sound of sirens in the streets below.
The next day and the days following were largely uneventful; finishing the first draft of a new novel being the highlight of your week it seemed. Friday morning however, your phone rang with the contact name for your manager popping up on the screen.
“Hello?” You answered, curiosity and caution in your voice. This call could be the one that tells you how much of your novel needs rewriting, or if publishers will even publish it at all. You always erred on the side of caution but you couldn’t help but hope for good news anyways.
“Y/N! Great news honey-you’re getting a book signing event! Isn’t this great? It’d be your first one in Korea and your gateway to winning the Korean public's hearts.” Your manager rambled, it was their specialty. They never knew when to take a break and let you speak. It was a part of their charm, you guessed.
“Uh yeah it’s great. Um, when is it?” You asked, running your free hand through your messy and unkempt hair. A light rush of panic ran through your body as your manager replied with “Monday at noon,” meaning you had the weekend to become presentable as a well known and respectable author. You made mental notes to schedule a hair appointment as soon as possible and get your nails done and refresh your entire image to basically look like you haven’t just holed up in your home for three weeks straight. Your phone call with your manager ended and you immediately called your favorite salon to check for any openings this weekend at all. You managed to slip in on Sunday at 2:00pm thanks to a cancellation and you called the nail salon next, scheduling an appointment for noon Saturday. I guess it’s a self care kind of weekend, you thought as you dressed yourself in brown plaid wide leg slacks and a white turtleneck and put a beret on, a perfect outfit for the chilly October weather. Finishing the look with some Mary-janes and a light coat, you went shopping.
As with any shopping trip, your first stop was coffee. Nothing could get done without an iced latte in your hands-but today the universe seemed to be testing you as your favorite coffee shop was closed due to internal renovations. Heading about a block out of your way, you found a new coffee shop that was much quieter than the one you frequented. It had concrete and steel architecture with oak wood accents. Much of the building was either gray or black, the chairs and tables matching the oak wood decor and the low hanging lights setting a dark mood in the shop. It was cute, but far from your usual coffee shop that was painted white and had a turf patio with cute little bumblebee chairs and bees painted on the walls.
You would be the only customer, if not for the man who aggressively cut you off and walked in before you. Impatient much? You thought as you walked in and waited behind the rude man to order. You weren’t much of an eavesdropper usually, but you heard the man order a ‘namericano’ and you couldn’t help but be intrigued. Did he just mispronounce “Americano'' or did he mean to say that? You were curious but you weren’t about to let it get the best of you. You ordered your latte and would’ve been on your way if not for the rude man with the black trenchcoat and black boots that quite literally knocked you into the wall as he was walking out. He did nothing but sip his coffee, which pissed you off to no end. Fucking blind bitch, you thought as you shook yourself off, grabbing your coffee from the pickup counter and leaving the building. That’s the last time I come here.
Monday came hurtling through the weekend and soon enough you were sat behind a foldable table covered in a red tablecloth and piles of copies of your novel Through the Red Falls, your most popular release to date, as well as your only release. You were only 22, having one famous novel under your belt was impressive enough at your age.
Something felt off to you. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, the bookstore hosting you was large and well known and the event had an adequate amount of security. The line began at the door and was long-from what you could see anyways. You couldn’t figure out what was off, so you ignored it and went on with the signing event. By about halfway through you felt like screaming. So many fake smiles, so many difficult people. “Make it out to my mom! Can I get three copies? I need your signature to look perfect so go slowly.” If you heard another person complain and make a ridiculous demand, you probably would scream. Eventually though, lunch break came and you got an hour break from everything.
“God I can’t stand people sometimes. So demanding to a person they don’t even know. Wish I could just speak my mind sometimes,” You said to no one in particular, but your manager was the one who responded.
“Speak your mind and I’m dropping you.” They spoke harshly but you knew they were mostly kidding. They never looked up from their food and all you could do was let out a little chuckle and go back to eating in silence. Everything resumed without a hitch-though your wrist kind of ached from signing books all day. Then, three strange figures walked in. You immediately took notice of their presence, feeling a little off about them but you carried on as usual. Your gut wasn’t telling you to run quite yet so you went along signing books and greeting fans. Soon enough two more figures entered. They seemed different from the other three but still felt off. At this point your gut feeling was getting worse-the feeling of running was setting in and fear was rising in you. The three figures were in all black with baseball caps and black masks on, making it extremely hard to see them. You could see the other two figures easier, one was wearing a white t-shirt and a black jean jacket with skinny jeans and the other was wearing a familiar looking black trench coat and jeans as well. Neither had a hat on but they both had dark colored hair that was long enough to cover their foreheads and shield their eyes.
Ignoring your gut feeling was difficult as the three figures donned in black approached your table. The two other figures were behind them in line and could hear some of their conversations as they moved up the line.
“Dude I think they’re here for her,” the shorter of the two stated. You didn’t hear the tall ones response as the group of three had finally made it to your station. You managed to fake a smile and ask “Shall I make it out to anyone?” The tallest one of the three responded.
“Yeah, make it out to Y/D/N.” He spoke with a sense of arrogance about him and you froze. How do they know my dad-wait, they can't be-
Before you even finished your thought you could hear the other two figures shouting to the innocent crowd to leave or be shot. The tallest one remained in front of you, locked onto your every move while he held a gun to your head, the barrel positioned right in between your eyes just above the eyebrows. A straight shot to the head that would kill you instantly. You didn’t dare to breathe too hard in case that would set him off. You heard the taller of the two other figures shout in the distance.
“The fuck would they want with a Y/A author?”
Suddenly shots were fired. You couldn’t see where they were coming from or who was shooting, but the tall man holding you at gunpoint turned to check it out and you took your chance. Grabbing the hand with gun by the wrist, you headbutted the man with all the force your smaller figure would allow and took the gun and ran. Your manager was long gone, they must’ve hid during the initial siege and you dared not think the worst. These people knew your dad, which meant they were probably from the Chinese mafia-you had to get out of there before anyone got hurt unnecessarily. You escaped the bookstore through the back and ran as fast as you could down the alley. You needed to put as much distance between you and your Chinese attackers as possible. You were about to turn a corner when you ran straight into someone. So much for distance, you thought as you backed away from the person who had previously blocked your way. Luckily for you, it wasn’t the Chinese mafia members from earlier, but the two other strange figures. The ones behind the Chinese members in line. Particularly the taller one with the black trench coat.
“Watch where you’re going-you never know who’s gonna be around the corners here,” The trench coat snarled, making you roll your eyes and turn away from him-only to find his shorter accomplice.
“Ignore him, he’s sort of like an unrestrained guard dog. You can treat him like such too, just don’t try to pet him. He bites,” He spoke with a humorous tone that was unfit for the circumstance at hand. The taller one scoffed in disagreement behind you but said nothing.
“Sure, anyways, it was nice meeting you both but I really do have to go-” you attempted to run but you were immediately glued to your place by a new voice speaking up from the direction of the bookstore.
“Running off before giving your father’s debtors a proper welcome? That’s very bad manners my dear. I’m afraid we’ll have to punish you for that,” the only girl in the group of Chinese mafia members spoke to you directly, her tone being playful and downright sadistic. It made your blood run cold. You heard the two men behind you questioning your enemy’s choice of words, but there wasn’t a single thought in your head besides running far, far, away. Your grip on your stolen gun tightened and you raised it to aim at the girl in front of you.
“Oh darling, you’ll have to do better than that shaky gun stance. I could knock you down in no time at all-not to mention you’re wide open,” The woman spoke, taking her own gun out and pointing it at you. Before you knew it though, she was shot in the rib from somewhere to your left. Looking over you found the two men from earlier, the shorter one holding a gun fitted with a silencer.
“What the fuck,” you breathed, lowering your gun slightly, “was that for?” You finished your sentence just as someone came up behind you. Hearing their footsteps you turned just to confirm they were the Chinese mafia-which they were-and shot them. You couldn’t see where the bullet landed but it definitely hit your target. You turned back to the boys to see them both standing with a partially stunned expression on their faces.
“What the fuck was that?” The short one spoke, though his words were cut short as the last Chinese mafia member approached. The tall man who previously held you at gunpoint didn’t even get to speak before he had a knife in his neck. You and the shorter man looked towards the taller man, who had just thrown the knife. Where he had gotten it, you had no idea. All you cared about was the people who were after you today were dead. Though you knew that if they were sent here, they’d for sure send more.
“Dude you’re the one who was like ‘let’s not kill anyone today we need someone alive.’ DOES THIS LOOK LIKE ALIVE TO YOU?” the shorter one scolded the man with the knives as he went to retrieve his knife from the neck of the man he just killed.
“Well the other two were already dead. And besides-I can’t let you show me up,” the taller one spoke casually as he drew a handkerchief from his pocket and began cleaning his blade.
“Lot of questions. One: who the fuck are you two? Two: how the fuck did you know this was going to happen? Three: the fuck do you mean ‘need someone alive’?” You spoke in rapid fire, retiring your stolen gun from it’s position in the air to your waistband, deciding you were definitely going to need it still.
“To answer your first question, I’m Renjun and the asshole is Jaemin. We can’t exactly disclose the kind of information needed to answer your other questions. All we can say is you need to come with us.”

So, policy wasn’t exactly your thing. Even though that was all your family dealt with. Policies, Politics, Diplomacies, foreign affairs, homeland security - you name it, someone in your family works with it. Daughter of millionaire chaebol turned hard-ass politician, Choi Saewon, you could basically say you had it all. Money, lots of it. Friends, plenty of them to go around. Good looks, enough to shoot someone down with a glance. Brains, full of intelligence that got you accepted into KAIST. But you were missing a lot. Parental love - you saw your mother maybe twice a month. True friendship - you doubt none of the people you called “friends” knew anything more than your net worth. Discipline - now that, was out of the question. For an 18 year old freshman in college, you probably drank more than anyone you knew, probably had been high more times to count, and definitely didn’t hang around the best people when you had free time.
And that’s how you ended up here. Sitting in front of hard-ass police detective Lee Jeno as he stared you down with the smallest hint of a smirk. He sighed, running his hands through his black locks, leaning back in the swivel chair behind his desk. “You have a really bad habit of making trouble when you come from a family that only cares about public images.” To be fair, he was tired of having to clean up your mess because your family decided that if he did this, he was a shoe-in for captain during the next inter-agency election. You chuckled lowly. You stopped caring about your family’s public image ages ago-much to your mother’s dismay. You slouched in your seat and smirked at the officer in front of you. Since high school, you’ve been to this station more times than you could count and you’ve dealt with more than a few policemen. Lee Jeno has been a regular for you, since he was basically being controlled by your parents influence. Whatever he did, it was because your parents told him to do it.
“What’s it gonna be this time Officer Lee? Slap on the wrist? Phone call home? Overnight stay? Oooh or all of the above?” You had become quite close with Lee Jeno, mainly because he was the only officer who knew how to deal with you without beating your head in.
“It’s a bit of a different consequence this time Miss Choi. I’m afraid you won’t be going home for a little while. Parent’s orders.” His irritated expression turned into one of unadulterated arrogance. You could only assume that he was given permission to punish you in any way he saw fit, there was no other reason to be so cocky at the moment. “Instead, you’ll be spending the weekend following me around; that, or I gave a warden whose willing to let you see what real life behind bars is like. Your choice?” His boot clad feet slid from the desk separating the two of you as he swung his center of mass around so he was leaning as close to you as the obstacle would let him.
“I guess you get to deal with me for the next 48 hours Officer Lee.” Mustering the brightest smile you could, you were already thinking of ways to make this Officer’s weekend more miserable than the devil himself could imagine.
Jokes on you though, because so was he.
Two hours and 20 million piles of paperwork later, Officer Lee was finally done with work. You had been bored out of your mind-and it didn’t help that the other police officers kept making disgusting comments about you. Officer Lee ordered you to sit behind his desk the whole time, and given how disgusting the rest of the officers were, you were fine staying where you were. You didn’t need an assault case on your hands. You sat behind Officer Lee’s desk and sat bored for a whole two hours.
“Alright, Miss Choi. You ready to go?” Officer Lee asked, gathering his personal things-wallet, keys, phone, the works. You nodded, seeing as he also had your bag of things from the evidence room. You figured it was best to listen to Officer Lee until you had enough leverage against him to get him to do whatever you wanted him to-which at this point, was let you go. As soon as you two walked out of the station, Officer Lee’s phone rang. He picked up the phone and answered it very gruffly.
“What do you want? I have a job to do, Jun,” Officer Lee said, shifting his weight. It sounded like he didn’t like this Jun person. You couldn’t hear what Jun was saying, but you heard Officer Lee clear as day. “I have to accompany a juvenile for the next two days, Jun. I won’t clean up your mess. Get Doyoung-hyung to do it. Don’t ‘But Jeno’ me, Huang Renjun. You screwed up. You fix it. What to you mean she’s already at my house? Why is she there? You what? Huang Renjun! Come and get your girl before this gets any worse for the rest of us. Yeah, I’m on my way. I’ll make sure she doesn’t leave before you get here. Yeah, whatever. See you.” Officer Lee hung the phone up and heaved a deep sigh. He looked at you and sighed again.
“Does this mean I don’t have to spend the next two days with you?” You asked, hopeful that whoever this Renjun person is saved you from Officer Lee Jeno. But your hopes were crushed.
“Not a chance. You’re just gonna have to deal with some of my family drama. Also, from here on out, refer to me as Jeno, not Officer Lee. My family likes to make fun of the fact that I’m a police officer,” Jeno said, walking towards an apartment complex not far from the station. You walked behind him, not making a sound. Jeno’s life sounded complicated in many aspects.
As you approached the door, you made out a slim silhouette with slumped shoulder as they paced between the door and the wall on the other side of the hallway. Their head perked up at the sound of footsteps and you were met with a young man, no older than Jeno himself, his hair was dyed chestnut and the hopeful gleam in his eyes vanished when he saw you walking behind his friend. “What took you so long to get here?” He ran up to the two of you, pleading with Jeno to just open the door already.
“What did you do to your fiance, huh? That her only option was the hide away in a police officer’s house? I swear to god Jun, if you decided it would be funny to leave her out in the rain again and I walk in and see bullet holes in my coffee table, you are buying me a new one.” His voice was threatening as he pulled the keys out of his pocket.
“It wasn’t anything like that. We- we got into an argument okay? I don’t want her going on missions anymore. Not after what happened last time.” The poor young man was on the verge of tears, remembering the earlier fight.
“You know that wasn’t the right call Jun.” Jeno sighed, opening the door just as Renjun raced through, calling out someone’s name. You heard a female voice respond to his pleas before Jeno turned back to you. “I’m sure you are hungry, there is a good Greek diner down the street, we can go there. Plus, it would be better to leave them alone for the time being.”
He didn’t wait for you to decide before walking towards the stairs once agains and leaving you in the dust. By the time you had scaled the same set of stairs he had seconds before. He was already at the entrance of his building, typing away furiously on his phone, smiling. “Girlfriend?” You questioned, laughing as you walked past him in the direction of the blinking neon sign of a 24/7 diner.
“Best friend.” He responded dryly, shutting off his phone and walking into the diner. The diner was of a certain charm, as your mother would say. It was like a new school diner with none of the budget. All of the booths were damaged in some way shape or form, the tables were carved into like 20 times in the past day, and it smelled like burnt grease. The only real “new school” aspect was the electric menu above the counter. Everything else looked like it was out of the 50’s. How someone could spend more than five minutes in that place was beyond your comprehension. Jeno looked up at you expectantly, as if you were supposed to order for you two.
“What?”
“Aren’t you going to order?”
“No, I’ve never been here before. I don’t even know where to start!” You waved your hands frantically about your person, it was your way of dramaticising every situation. Jeno sighed heavily in annoyance and walked up to the counter.
“What’ll it be today Officer? The usual?” The man at the counter asked, leaning forward a little bit. The clerk was a greasy man and had a nasty beard that looked like it hadn’t been groomed in months.
“Make it two, one for me and one for the chick.” Jeno flatlined, pulling his wallet out of his back pocket. The clerk looked over at you and smirked.
“Finally got yourself a girl, ey? You got it Officer.” You couldn’t see Jeno’s reaction to the clerks comment, but you definitely rolled your eyes and internally groaned. You? Dating Jeno? Never. The day you dated a police officer would be the day you went on the straight and narrow. Jeno waved you over to a table and sat down across from you.
“Chick huh? Didn’t think we were on such casual terms. If I had known, I’d have called you dude this whole time,” You commented, making Jeno glare at you.
“Call me dude even once and I won’t hesitate to smack you.”
“Wow. Bet you’re real fun at parties.” You mumbled, shifting your gaze to the window to your left. You were too busy staring out into the streets to notice Jeno was staring at you.
“Y/N.”
“Yeah?”
“My friend will be joining us at the house tonight, try not to do anything promiscuous, please. He has enough on his plate right now.”
“Yah! I’m not that type of person!” You kicked Jeno from under the table. You didn’t know where he got the idea that you were the promiscuous type, but you felt deeply offended that he thought that about you. He really held you to no standards.
“Ow! What was that for?” He yelled, standing up.
“What was what for?” A new voice made your ears perk up. His voice was deeper, but sounded more immature than Jeno’s. You turned and saw a man, about Jeno’s height, wearing all black. You couldn’t really see his features but you really didn’t want to. You assumed this was Jeno’s friend, so you wanted to stay as far away as possible.
“She kicked me!”
“For good reason! You called me promiscuous!” You defended, crossing your legs and turning your head away from the injured male in front of you.
“Was I wrong in saying that?”
“Yes! Very much so!” You yelled. You weren’t worried about making a scene, you Jeno, and the new guy were the only three customers in the diner.
“Jeno, you really need to practice having a filter. It really helps in avoiding situations like this.” The new guy said, pulling up a chair and sitting down at the end of the table.
“Says the guy who can’t even admit he has a crush.” This perked up your ears.
“Crush?” You repeated, turning to the new guy.
“She’s more of a celebrity crush. Doesn’t count”
“Well it depends. Have you met her?”
“I think so.”
“What would you say your personality is like?”
“Strong silent and mean type,” Jeno commented, making the new guy glare at him. “What? I’m not wrong. You threatened Mark’s not-girlfriend girlfriend the day you met her.”
“Who?” the new guy asked, obviously confused.
“The chick who Mark will not stop complaining about? Reorganized his entire lab and now he’s bitching about not being able to find his test tubes?”
“Oh is she the really bubbly one who’s always screaming at Mark?”
“That’s the one.”
“Ah I remember now. She deserved it. Also I wasn’t in the best of moods.”
“Okay, okay, back on track here. Is Jeno’s description of your personality correct or not?” You asked, getting impatient.
“More or less, yeah.”
“Okay then if you meet her again, be distant. Don’t let her know it’s a celebrity crush.”
“How would I do that?”
“Be around, don’t hide from her. But don’t speak to her unless it’s absolutely necessary. And if you really want to be spontaneous, corner her from time to time and be really serious. LIke in Kdramas!” Jeno scoffed.
“You want him to act like he’s in a Kdrama? Him?” The new guy glared at Jeno once again.
“It doesn’t sound so bad, I’ll try it. Thanks, uh..?”
“Y/N. And you’re welcome.”
“Alright well I hate to break the wonderful conversation you two were having, but the foods done and Jun’s calling us home.” Jeno said, making eye contact with the dude to your left.
“Like home home, or your house home?” The guy asked, his tone changing.
“Home home. Johnny apparently wants us all there for the next few days.”
“What are you gonna to about Y/N?”
“I guess I have no choice but to take her. It’s not like she’s not useful or anything. Johnny should approve.”
“I’m sorry, who’s Johnny? Where am I going? What am I useful for?” You asked, making Jeno sigh.
“It’s a long story and I’ll tell you when we get home. Which by the way, will be your new home from now on.”
“I’m sorry what?”
“Long story. Let’s go.” Jeno said, grabbing the boxes of food and walking towards the door. You and the other guy followed Jeno, the other guy quickly catching up to Jeno while you walked a couple paces behind the two men. You could barely make out the conversation they were having and eventually just resorted to reading the neon signs above your head as you walked down the streets.
The boy who had been at Jenos house prior to your visit to the Greek diner met up with Jeno and the other guy as you all walked past Jenos house, his face portraying that of a broken boy. You assumed his fiance didn’t forgive him. You walked in silence as the three boys in front of you made hushed conversation. You couldn’t help but admire Jenos features, him being the easiest for you to stare at while walking. His jawline was prominent as well as his cheekbones and other facial features. His eyebrows were straight and dark, but they fit his boxy face quite well. His eyes turned into little arches when he smiled, something he didn’t seem to do while on duty. Jeno’s entire personality changed around these two guys, and it was slightly attractive to you. The hardass police officer Jeno was no more while he was with the two boys, but instead he seemed almost carefree, like that of a normal adult who just came of age. He hadn’t had the chance to change out of his work attire, but he somehow looked less official in it now.
“Y/N.” Jenos voice pulled you out of your thoughts and you realized you were standing in front of an abandoned construction site. It looked stable enough-the building was only a few storeys tall and made of brick.
“Yeah?”
“Don’t walk away from me. No matter what happens or what you’re interested in, I need you to stay by my side until you settle into a room for the night, okay?” Jeno’s commanding but tender voice surprised you. He suddenly sounded like he cared for your wellbeing, and not just because it’s in your parent’s interest.
“Okay, Jeno. Lead the way,” you said, signalling that you were ready to go inside. He nodded and opened the back door, allowing the two boys to go in first and then you, Jeno following you in soon after. Your eyes were met with a basic hotel lobby with a front desk, old benches, an elevator, and a door to the staircase. Jeno grabbed your arm and led you to the elevator, where the two boys were waiting for you. They pressed the button labeled “B” and with that, you all went down to the basement of the old building. As soon as the doors to the elevator opened, your eyes bugged out of your head. The elevator went straight into a living room like space that had dark hardwood floors and white couches with glass coffee tables and white walls that were decorated with graffiti and pieces of modern art. There were multiple hallways leading away from the living room, one leading to a visible kitchen and dining area. The room was filled with people-more men than women-who all had their eyes on you.
“Jeno, Jaemin, Renjun, how nice of you all to join us. And Jeno even brought along an extra! Our girls should be pleased to have another girl joining them. Please, take a seat. The meeting is about to begin.” The man at the front of the room said, motioning for the four of you to sit and listen to the meeting that was in progress. Jeno led you to a spot near a graffitied “love kills” along the back wall of the room and made you stand beside him the whole time. One of the girls sitting on the couch in front of you shot you a sympathetic look before turning back to face the man who seemed to be in charge of this congregation of people.
“As you all may know, besides the lovely young lady in the back whom I have yet to meet, we are in the middle of a power struggle. China wants to limit all of their exports to the other countries and Korea doesn’t want to have to pay the tariffs on all of their Chinese imports. So, naturally we interfered with this process and now we have to pay the price. One of China’s biggest mafias attacked one of our own while on a job, and now we must protect ourselves and each other from this threat. She will now come up and explain the details of this mafia that attacked her. I expect you all to listen well.” The man ended his speech and sat down, a woman about Jeno’s age replaced his position at the front of the room.
“Thank you, Johnny. Yes, I was attacked by a chinese mafia no more than a week ago while completing a job that forced me to travel to China. I was to execute a corrupt businessman who had been in the child labor industry for years now. I missed my chance while he was in Korea due to personal issues and I was determined to complete my mission. So I followed him to China and executed him there. I had just called the local members to help clean up the body when I saw movement from my left peripheral. Immediately, I engaged the men in combat and barely escaped without much harm done to myself. The men who attacked me are apart of the Chinese Mafia, simply named, and consider themselves rivals of S-NCT and NCT-116. As of right now, our members of NCT-116 are gathering intel on the Chinese Mafia. We don’t know much, and until we do, watch each other’s backs. We’re gonna need everyone’s help and lord knows we don’t need to lose any one of us to this. Stay safe and good luck, that is all.” The woman ended her speech and was replaced by the man from before, Johnny was what the woman called him.
“She is right, everyone. So please, watch each other’s backs and for the love of god don’t die. Meeting adjourned. Yong?” Johnny looked towards a man with red hair. The man stood up and made a weird sign with his hands-a sign that everyone else replicated.
“To the world!” The red haired man yelled.
“NCITY!” The rest of the room responded, and with that, everyone dispersed. Jeno grabbed your wrist and led you to Johnny, who was still at the front of the room. Johnny watched you intently, as if he were deciding what to do with you. You suddenly felt extremely insecure, as you were wearing a ripped Rolling Stones tee and baggy ripped mom jeans with your hair in a messy bun. You weren’t exactly “presentable” for a meeting with a leader of some sort of mafia cult thing.
“So Jeno, what has our resident officer brought in today? A druggie? Maybe a dealer? OH! I know! A graffiti artist! Sorry to say Jeno, but I think the walls are filled with enough graffiti from Renjun and Chenle,” Johnny said, slapping Jeno’s shoulder. Jeno just rolled his eyes and pulled you in front of him-putting his hands on both of your shoulders.
“Johnny-Hyung, meet Choi Y/N. Choi Y/N, meet Johnny-hyung. He’s S-NCT’s leader and basically the most embarrassing dad you will ever meet. I think you’ll be of much use-you know, with your impressive criminal skills.” Jeno gently pat your left shoulder and left. He actually left you alone with a mafia leader. Typical Jeno.
“Well that was rude of him. Anyways, as you already know, I’m Johnny and I’m the leader of S-NCT. Is there anything you need me to clarify before I go into details about what you just bore witness to?” Johnny asked and you shook your head. You had inferred all your information, but you figured it was correct. You usually were. “Then sit down girl, cause you’re gonna be here a little while. I’ve got a lot to catch you up on.”
Twenty minutes later and Johnny finally finished explaining to you just what caused the meeting and you felt a strange anger towards the Chinese Mafia. You had also figured out that the girl who was attacked by the Chinese Mafia was Renjun’s fiance and a sniper from another Korean Mafia, K-251. Now, Johnny was asking about your skills and criminal offenses.
“Obviously, a criminal record means next to nothing here. But I need to know what you did so I can position you accordingly,” Johnny said, taking a sip from the water bottle he had a boy named Chenle grab him-much to Chenle’s reluctance.
“Position me?” You questioned, something you had become very comfortable with doing. Jeno was right when he called Johnny an embarrassing dad. You felt very at home here-more than you ever felt in your own home.
“Skill wise. Mark and Chenle are the IT guys, Renjun’s our sniper, Jeno’s our undercover intelligence, and Jaemin’s an assassin. Does that make a little more sense?” You nodded along, everything coming together in your mind. Jeno’s position was to gather intelligence on the police for the Mafia and possibly keep the police off the Mafia’s trail. It made sense once you thought about it.
“I think I understand. My dad is Choi Saewon, and my mom does youth programs everywhere. So I’m very well trained in politics and all that good stuff. But I hate it so I rebel. I go to major keggers at the frat house near the community college and I do whatever I can to ruin my image. I don’t want to be seen as the ‘Perfect daughter’ anymore. I’m more than my mother and my father will ever be. I attended KAIST because my dad wanted me to become an engineer because, and I quote, I have a ‘natural affinity for the world’s mathematical problems’, unquote.” You explained, sipping your water that Johnny ordered Chenle to grab for you.
“Interesting. So I could put you in IT with MArk and Chenle if that would be favorable for you, or I could have you work alongside Doyoung, S-NCT’s resident politician,” Johnny leaned forward in his seat, putting his elbows on his knees to support his upper body. This surprised you. Kim Doyoung, famous politician and bachelor, was apart of a mafia?
“Could I possibly just to my own thing? I’m an excellent escape artist and I’m a trained street fighter,” You said folding your arms over your chest. Johnny smirked and stood up.
“I was hoping you would say that. Well, Choi Y/N, welcome to S-NCT. I’ll have Jeno show you around and I hope you enjoy your life here from now on. We’re like a big family and now you’re apart of it too. So stay safe and stick to Jeno like glue. I’m sure he’ll protect you.” Johnny said, bringing you in for a hug. Your dad never showed you this much affection-ever. You were grateful for Johnny and his acceptance of your character. As Johnny released the hug, you saw Jeno turn the corner and walk into the sitting room. “Speak of the devil! Jeno! I have assigned you to take care of our newest recruit, I trust you won’t let her-or myself-down?” Johnny said, winking at Jeno, which made Jeno playfully hit Johnny’s arm.
“You got it Hyung. I wouldn’t dare let the famous Choi daughter come to any harm.” You suddenly felt a pang in your chest. Jeno only saw you as Choi Saewon’s daughter, his one way ticket to Captain of the police force. It stung.
“Jeno. She’s not just Choi Saewon’s daughter. She’s S-NCT’s resident escape artist, street fighter, and engineer. She’s Choi Y/N of S-NCT and I expect you to treat her as such.” Johnny said, giving Jeno a deadly glare that terrified the two of you. You finally understood just how Johnny became leader and kept the position.
“Yes of course, Hyung. My mistake.” Jeno said nervously. He avoided eye contact with you and lead you down a hallway and into the kitchen. “This is the kitchen and um yeah. Anyways that’s the dining room and just down that hall is the gun range. Up those stairs is Johnny’s office, Mark’s lab, and Doyoung’s office. This way leads to our dorms and bathrooms 1-3. Go down this hall a little bit more and you’ll reach the gym and music room-yes we have one of those. Music nights are a bit of a tradition here. Down here is all of our guest rooms and yes, we have guest rooms and I’m glad we do because we’ve been getting a lot of new recruits lately. They all stay here so we’ve deemed this hall ‘Newbieland’. This is also where you will be staying when you’re here. Over that way is Jungwoo-hyung’s garden-it’s his favorite place to be so should you ever need to find him he’s probably there. So coming back to the living room, just over that way is the elevator that you will use should you enter through the front. The back door is through Jungwoo-Hyung’s garden and our garage is below. Um, anything else you’d like to know before I send you to bed?” Jeno rambled on and on before finally ending his tour. Thankfully, you were staying apart from him in this somehow huge underground space.
“Yeah, just one. What will I wear to bed tonight and for the day tomorrow? This is all I have,” You asked, gesturing to your worn out clothes. Despite being the daughter of a wealthy politician, you had to fend for yourself when it came to clothes and other luxury items. Your father forbid you from using what he called the “family money”, which only proved to you that he had no intention of associating with you now that you’ve become an adult. Which begged the question, why did he care if you spent a few months in jail or not?
“Someone should have spare clothes. Taeyong just took Mark’s not-girlfriend girlfriend shopping so she should have something, you two seem to be of the same size.” Jeno said, grabbing your arm and leading you to “newbieland”. He knocked on a door in the middle of the hall on the left that had been decorated lightly with pencil sketches around the handle and about eye level for you. A girl who was about your height opened the door in a tank top and mint green pajama pants that were covered in pandas.
“Yes, Jeno? How can I help you?” She said, opening the door completely to show off her messy room. Shopping bags were strewn everywhere and clothes lay on just about every piece of furniture besides the desk and the desk chair. It was chaotic but pleasing to know that you weren’t alone in your lazy habits.
“This is Y/N, she’s a new recruit but she has nothing. She needs to borrow some clothes for tonight and tomorrow.” Jeno said curtly, pushing you into the room. You glared at him and smiled at the girl.
“Y/N! Hi my name’s Y/F/N and I joined a few weeks ago. I’m the newest recruit so far in the sense of I had no prior affiliations. If we were going off of time here, Renjun’s fiance would be the newest but she’s very skilled and brings alot to the team so I don’t consider her as new as I am. I do hope we can be friends?” Y/F/N introduced. She seemed to ramble a lot but that really didn’t matter to you. You were happy to have a friend who didn’t know your net worth.
“Of course! Now about the clothes? Also, hun, I don’t know if you’ve noticed but I’m brand new, so you aren’t the newest recruit anymore. And I’m sure you bring just as much to the team as Renjun’s fiance. Don’t doubt yourself. It’s your worst enemy,” You smiled and walked into the messy room. Y/F/N smiled as well and ruffled through a pile on her bed, pulling out a tank top identical to hers and a pair of pink shorts with white polka dots. Not really your style but you were happy to accept something to sleep in that wasn’t jeans.
“These should fit, if not just come on back and I’ll find something else! And if you need something to wear tomorrow then just stop by around eight and I’ll find something for ya.” Y/F/N said, handing you the pajamas. You smiled at her gratefully.
“Thank you so much Y/F/N. I haven’t had a real friend in a while, and I hope we become good friends. I’m gonna go put these on now, have a goodnight!” You said, pulling her in for a hug, which she gladly accepted.
“Of course girlie! We gotta stick together if we’re gonna survive these pugnacious boys! Goodnight hun!” She shut the door behind you and suddenly you were alone with Jeno once again.
“You know, Y/N, I think you’ll fit in just fine while you’re here.”
“Yeah? Why’s that?”
“You’re a misfit looking for a family. That’s half of the people here, too. We all found a family here in the mafia, despite it’s obvious dangers. We all care about each other deeply and we’ll do anything to make sure we all come home from dangerous jobs in one piece. Jun’s girl almost didn’t come back and it hurt all of us. Another member, Xiaojun, he’s been in a hospital for a while and was in a coma. Taeil, the oldest member here, grieved him the most. Xiaojun’s accident was hard on everyone, especially since it was his first mission. We love and care for everyone who lives in this bunker, you’re now included. I hope you can find it in your heart to love us all the way we love each other, and the way we’ll love you.” Jeno looked at you, sadness in his eyes.
“Thank you, Jeno. I think I’ll like it here a lot. I’m glad you brought me here.” You said, giving Jeno a small smile-which he returned. Jeno had never smiled at you and it made your heart skip a beat. Maybe, just maybe, your heart had been melted by this hard ass cop.

Here is a little series that I wanted to start for multiple reasons! Mainly, I absolutely love these types of stories, and I have found that writing some of my other ongoing series at the moment is proving to be really mentally unhealthy for me and I want to continue writing, but it a way that I am able to enjoy writing and produce stories that you enjoy as well!
I would like to preface that this is in honour of @cozychristopher because she is just absolutely WHIPPED like the biggest SIMP on this entire planet just totally enraptured by this short ass man. I hope that she enjoys this :)
Major: Social Work
Minor: Kinesiology
Clubs/Sports: Captain of the Swim team and holding the record for fastest 200m butterfly and 800m freestyle. Likes making music in his free time with Pre-Law Major!Changbin and Entertainment Journalism Major!Jisung. Bumps into future girlfriend in educational psychology class.
Born and raised in Australia, he basically lived in the water
From everything like scuba diving and snorkeling to surfing
So it was absolutely no surprise when he went on to become the captain of his highschool swim team, eventually being offered a full ride to the University of Seoul to swim
He thought he was going to major in music
Become this big time producer and songwriter for idols and work at some of the best companies in the country
But that really didn’t happen
Originally, his major was Digital Production and Design
And it absolutely drained all creativity out of him
He honestly didn’t even like swimming any more
Everything besides his assignments became and chore and he genuinely didn’t enjoy DOING anything any more
So he decided to switch
His friends and family have always said he would make a good therapist
And he really did enjoy listening to other people’s problems and trying to help them out
So social work it was
And as he began taking all of his classes, he absolutely fell in love with it
Soon, he decided that he wanted to become a licensed social worker in elementary schools
And with feeling happy again
Came swimming again
And making music FOR HIMSELF again
Honestly, everything just felt like it was right on track again
His favorite part about his new major was all of the psychology classes he got to take
Low-key it was really fun being able to psychoanalyze all of his friends just so he could piss them off
On this particular morning however
He wanted to do more than just piss off Changbin
Who had kept him up until 1 am the night before working on music, subsequently resulting in only 4 hours of sleep before he had to be up for swim practice, and he really wasn’t looking forward to jumping into the cold water of the damned swimming pool that the school still continues to claim was heated
In retaliation, he had sent a text to Seungmin asking him to throw cold water on the sleeping boy for him
Which he received a photo of a soaking wet Changbin after morning practice had finished and he was able to check his phone
In a slightly better mood at the photo he received, he went off to the first class of the day
Which just so happened to be child psychology
Setting his books down and pulling out his laptop, he began typing down what ever appeared on the screen as fast as he possibly could
That was, until he heard the lecture room door slam shut, a noise that even startled his professor
Looking up from his screen, he couldn’t help but bust out laughing
There stood the Wrestling Captain absolutely drenched, still in his hello kitty shirt and strawberry slippers
Looking about as pissed off as a soaking wet man wearing a hello kitty shirt could be
Below, Changbin quickly found the source of laughing and pointed at the door, signaling Chris to follow after him
After shaking his head no, even his professor pointed at the door, not mad his class was disrupted but rather amused at what was currently unfolding at 8 in the morning
Following him out the door, Chris was immediately attacked
And by attacked, Changbin was hugging him as tight as he could
Trying to get Chris as wet as he could
Which, to be fair, earned quite a few stares from half-asleep students walking by
After being forced to agree to never text Seungmin ideas, even if “I didn’t think he was really going to do it” was an excuse, Chris was allowed back into his classroom as Changbin grumbled about being woken up far too early for his liking
Walking back into the building, he had his head down, trying to shake the water from it as much as he can when he ran face first into something
Correction: someone
Hearing a startled shriek followed up a thud, he looked up just in time to see a girl fall flat on her ass and have papers go flying
Poor girl
Poor you
He immediately rushes over to help you up and pick up all the papers and books that had fell out of your backpack
When you picked up your laptop
With a now shattered screen
Looking over, Chris caught sight of it and immediately began rambling
“I’m so sorry, I wasn’t looking where I was going and it has been a rough morning and I should pay for that oh my gosh let me get my wallet from my class I can pay for th-”
“Don’t worry about it.”
“Huh?”
“Don’t worry about it. I needed to get a new laptop, I guess this is my reason to finally do it.”
He still tries to make you at least let him help pay for the new laptop as he helps you pick up the rest of your lesson plans
Did I mention you are an education major?
After about 5 more minutes of arguing whether or not he should help pay for the laptop, you settled on him buying you lunch one day to makeup for the whole mess and he gave you his phone number
Honestly
You half expected him to forget about the whole ordeal and went about your day without a laptop and resorted to borrowing your roommate’s when you got home
And you didn’t hear from mystery boy for at least a week
When suddenly you get a text from him asking if you were free to do lunch that day
So at 1, you were sitting in front of the boy who had broken your laptop at a small cafe right off of campus
Who once again was very much damp, only this time he actually had a towel with him???
And he smelled very much like chlorine
“Sorry for just getting here. We had a late practice this morning and I didn’t want to show up with yucky hair. The chlorine though, I can’t really help that…”
He had an accent
You didn’t notice that before
Definitely didn’t notice that before
“What is with the chlorine then?”
“Ahhh. I’m the swim team captain here… have you ever been to one of our competitions before?”
You shyly told him you hadn’t, between your own sports (track and field) and your workload, it didn’t leave much time for other activities
After that conversation flowed smoothly and it felt like you were talking to a friend that you had known for years
That was, until he pulled a bag out from behind his chair and set it on the table
“Listen, I know you didn’t want me to pay for it but I felt really bad and it was definitely my fault and I have been saving up some money from a few gigs my friends and I have done so I bought you a new laptop and you have to take it because there is a new return policy and I still have a working laptop so.”
You also didn’t notice how much he liked to ramble when he was nervous
After being forced to accept the laptop, you forced him to let you pay for lunch to call it even once and for all
Did I mention that he starts texting you ALL THE TIME
Like
Really
All the freaking time
Constantly
Half of the time you pick up your phone, its him
And he will text you about ANYTHING
What he had for breakfast
Complaining about his roommate
Complaining about swim practice
What he had for lunch
What he was learning in class
And he expected you to do the same
It was almost like he conditioned you to talk to him any chance that you had
Which eventually led up to him asking you to come to one of his “gigs”
Which, surprisingly, that is one of the few things he hadn’t talked to you about
All you knew was that he made music with two of his best friends, Jisung and Changbin, on the weekends
So, when you found out that the gig was on the same night of one of your favorite rap groups performing downtown, you felt so bad for turning him down
What? You already spent money on tickets to go see them, you can’t just pull out now
But he didn’t seem too bummed out by it? Especially after he asked who you were going to go see
And so the night of the concert, you spent the night getting ready with a couple of friends who were also coming with you, and showed up to the venue a little bit earlier than expected
Once you were finally let into the building, you and your friends made the way to the front of the stage
Allowing the headstrong, determined pre-med major of the 3 of you to push your way through the crowd
Once you got up there, you noticed a few other students you recognized from campus
In particular, 2 younger girls, who you believed to be freshmen, giggling and talking loud enough for you to overhear part of the conversation
“I heard that C… maybe we get to see him ton… isn’t he the swi…”
Just as the shorter of the two girls were about to finish her sentence, the lights dimmed and the crowd cheered for the concert about to begin, effectively cutting her off
And in the next moment, you just about screamed yourself
Out walked the same boy who was asking you to attend a gig the day before, only this time in a jean jacket, white shirt and ripped black jeans to match
Very different from his usual black hoodie and track pants with the matching duffle bag
And none-the-less the concert was amazing
And apparently your friend knew one of the boys as well?
And just found out tonight as well?
Surprises all around for everyone
You had an amazing time, and the concert was amazing, you just still couldn’t believe that CHRIS, the captain of the swim team, the social work major, the ‘let me buy you an entire new laptop because I busted your screen’ guy
Was CB97
As you were just about to leave, the youngest of the boys on stage, J.One, you knew him as, ran up to the three of you, asking you if you could come back on stage with him
Following them back stage, you met Chris, and Changbin, who you learned was Spear B
After getting over the initial shock that Chris was the lead rapper of one of your favorite groups
You were able to get much closer to him as well
Minus the teasing from the other two boys that just obviously come along with the territory
What was study sessions for your shared psychology classes
Turned into study dates at his dorm
Where not a lot of studying ever got done lbh
And you also became to be the biggest support system to each other
Especially when it came to your respective sports
You made sure to be at every competition that he had, cheering him on and screaming from the sidelines
And naturally, he became your personal trainer for endurance running
Something that he apparently did a lot of for swim???
It was a really healthy and fun relationship that made the extra work you had to put in that much more meaningful
Did I mention that your first kiss was after him winning a spot at nationals, and he ran over to you, still completely soaking wet to pick you up and hug you?
You eventually got him back for buying that laptop also
For your first Christmas, you bought him a new soundboard so he could work on music
To which he also almost refused to accept
And meeting his parents was an absolute BLAST
About a year into the relationship, it was his senior year, and he wanted to fly back to Australia to celebrate graduating with his family
Originally, you both had decided that you were going to go home for about a week while he also flew back to Australia to visit family
Until about a week before your trip you had to cancel your plans with family, because suddenly Chris is telling you that he actually bought 2 tickets to Sydney, and the other one definitely isn’t for Felix
And so there you were
Actually in Sydney, Australia
And it was gorgeous
On the first day, you both went to his family’s house, where they insisted that you stayed instead of getting a hotel
And the rest of the week, his mom and dad spent time taking you around the city and showing you just about everything of Chris’s childhood
Much to your boyfriend’s dismay
“My rents need to learn that SOME of my baby photos need to stay private for a reason.” - Your boyfriend
But to say that they fell in love with you is the least, and Chris was so happy that his parents loved you just as much as him
Especially since he could see you being in their lives forever.
Okay, so, this is a collaboration between myself (@specsforwoo) and the author (@marshmellowmin) so please continue to support us as we release more content related to the overall theme that can be found on my/their blog. Thank you!

Was Jeno's junior in the police academy at some point, however, both were eventually assigned to different forces. He was transferred to Busan, where a few months later he was kicked off the force for withholding incriminating evidence (that would have sent an innocent man, his brother, to jail). Reconnected with Jeno in Seoul, who initiated him into S-NCT, where he now works on ground missions and as an internal mediator.

You were, effectively, the only person that Minho could tolerate - at least that is what he told everyone else around him. Knowing each other since high school, even he was surprised that he allowed you to stick around this long. Now, 22 years old, here you were still sitting inside his shitty ass garage, leaned up on the sofa, cuddling with none other than Kim Seungmin, lead singer to his band, and current arch-nemesis in the position that he was in, not that Minho would actually ever tell him.
As the founder of their band, Crow Hearts (Felix named them, don’t question it), Minho felt that it was his job to provide a practice space for them, but right now, he was really regretting that decision because now he had to watch you swap saliva with someone he wanted to consider a friend but was currently opting to stab daggers into with his eyes. Okay - maybe Minho did more than JUST tolerate you. And it wasn’t exactly a secret - to everyone else but the lovely couple, that is.
Felix came walking up the driveway, putting a hand on the guitarist, Jisung’s, back as he entered into the garage and making his way over to his senior. “You know, this is your space, you could make a “no significant others” rule if you wanted to.” He whispered, leaning over the couch opposite of you and Seungmin, particularly the couch where Minho sat with his eyes glued to his phone to prevent him from letting out an involuntary reaction at the two of you.
“It would be pretty fucked of me to do that. Plus that would tip her off that something was wrong in the first place, trust me, I’ve already thought about it.” He grumbled, choosing to close instagram from his screen and switch back to twitter instead.
“Whatever you say, mate - they’re too far down each other’s throat to notice anyways.” The younger, ebony-haired individual said before standing back up and walking over to his keyboard, sitting down on the raised platform where Jeongin’s drum sat, striking up a conversation with the drummer himself.
Minho finally decided to look up from his phone to check to make sure Jisung was done tuning his guitar so that he could start practice and finally get his mind of the image of you with Seungmin burned out of his brain before he went nuts. “Min, let the poor girl breathe, we have to actually practice, you know.” He chuckled, mustering the best smirk he could before shoving his phone into his back pocket and picking up his own instrument.
The singer let go of you, kissing your cheek once more (and arising a silly giggle out of yourself) before standing up and making his way over to the- unplugged for the sake of the neighborhood- microphone. “Don’t get too jealous, Minho, she doesn’t go for bassists anyways.” A chuckle falling out of his own lips, teasing Minho, even though, as far as he knew, Minho only saw you as a best friend, nothing more. As the band began practicing, he continued to throw winks and generally suggestive faces your way, and Minho just kept his eyes glued to his fingerboard in an attempt to make it through the practice without genuinely decking his friend.
You had run in the house for a second to grab everyone water while the boys began packing up their instruments, or at least what they could of it. Jeongin, still behind the drumset, leaned over one of his snares to join the conversation. “Are we still booked for that gig this weekend? If not, I’m skipping whatever the hell you guys want to do and I’m going to take Ji-eun for a drive.”
“Guess you aren’t getting laid this weekend, then.” Jisung quipped from the couch, only to be met with a solid drumstick to the stomach, causing a groan to arise from his throat. “What the fuck, man, just sneak her out after the gig or something!”
“Not everyone is as horny as you, hyung.”
“Whatever, you’re just pissed that our parents don’t like you.”
“Don’t listen to Jisung, Innie, Jisung’s mom thinks you are adorable. He’s just pissed that Ji-eun got in a relationship before he did.” You laughed, closing the garage door behind you and beginning to throw water bottles at the boys, still holding one for yourself in the end as you squished yourself on the couch where your boyfriend and best friend sat, falling into Seungmin’s side as you did. Minho was quick to get up and move after that.
“Thank you! I knew they liked me!” Jeongin smiled before picking up another drumstick and throwing it at Jisung again, only this time, he caught it.
“Watch it, I can make sure Ji-eun doesn’t have a boyfriend real quick.” Jisung threw the drumstick back at Jeongin, who was luckily able to dodge as the stick hit the back wall and fell to the floor with a clatter.
“ANYWAYS, back on topic, shall we?” Felix spoke up, tossing his now empty water bottle in the direction of the trash can and ultimately missing. “Where is the gig even at?”
Now it was Minho’s turn to speak. “You know the old warehouse that they turned into a bar a few years back? It’s there. The manager said he wanted us to turn in a set-list by Thursday and come about an hour earlier to set all of our equipment up.” He pulled out his phone and pulled up the text messages with the stage manager of the bar. “It looks like we will be on from 10-11:30 and he said we can stay after and chill if we wanted. Drinks on the house.”
That last sentence got everyone to cheer. Free drinks were definitely going to be the highlight of their Saturday night.
“Am I still good to come early to help you guys set up? You looked up at Minho from where you were, nestled under Seungmin’s arm.
“Uh, yeah, the stage manager said it was okay? I kinda figured that you were gonna come help anyways so I was planning on pi-“
“Of course, we need our tour-manager-in-training there don’t we, babe?” Seungmin’s laughed, poking at your side, causing you to laugh as well.
“I guess I’ll be there then! What were you trying to say Minho?” You looked back at Minho, recognizing that your boyfriend had indeed cut him off from saying something, which you had noticed he did quite often.
“Oh, uh, nothing, I guess you are gonna get there with Seungmin, then?” He scratched the back of his neck, looking down at his phone to hide his frustration at the situation.
“Oh, sure!” You couldn’t help but notice your own mood shift at his response, you and Minho always went to gigs together, even after you had started dating Seungmin, it was a ritual you two had that you didn’t see either of you breaking anytime soon, but you guessed that it was bound to change in the end. Maybe Minho was inviting another girl to come with him this time?
“Can I bring Ji-eun, then?” Jeongin caught both of your attention, now that you had resigned to being silent and playing with the ring on Seungmin’s middle finger instead of engaging in further conversation.
“STOP FUCKING MY SISTER, JEONGIN.” Jisung groaned from the couch.
“IT’S NOT FUCKING HER IF I’M DATING HER, YOU IDIOT.” Jeongin picked up another drumstick to throw at him before he saw the glare he was receiving from Felix and Minho.
“IT IS IF I HAVE TO WATCH YOU TWO KISS BACKSTAGE ONE MORE TIME.” This time Jisung chose to sit up from his previous position on the couch, throwing a pick at Jeongin, not minding the glares that he, too, received.
“Okay okay, before those two fight over a girl, we are meeting at The ParkWay at 9 and we are performing at 10, right?” Surprisingly, Felix was the one who actually kept everyone on track at these meetings. “And Y/N is going to come with Seungmin, and Jisung is bringing Ji-eun? Perfect. I will see you guys on Friday.” He stood up before grabbing Jisung’s arm and dragging him out of the garage as well, waving behind him as he opened the passenger door of his Accord to shove Jisung in.
Jeongin soon got a call from his girlfriend and was leaving too, which meant Minho was now suffocating in his emotions and he watched you and Seungmin happily chat on the couch across from him without a care in the world. “Um-“ clearing his throat, Minho stood up, making a point to grab his keys from the top of Felix’s keyboard as he did. “I have something I have to get to- but y’all can chill here if you want- just make sure to shut the door behind you.” He shoved his phone in his back pocket, not really having any event to get to, just desperately wanting to get out of the event that he was currently in.
“Oh no, we’ll leave too then.” You quickly stood up, grabbing Seungmin’s arm and dragging him up with you. “Where are you going?”
“Babe, let him get some fresh air. He probably has a date or something, right Minho?” Your boyfriend laughed beside you, flashing a cheeky grin in Minho’s direction.
“Uh, yea, wait - what? No, no, I have to get new strings for my bass before the gig, that’s all.” Seungmin didn’t notice, but you could feel a sigh of relief leave your lungs at hearing Minho confirm that he was, in fact, not going on a date.
“Sure sure, just bring her to the gig so we can all meet her, hyung.” Seungmin laughed again, enjoying whatever kind of reaction he was getting out of the older boy.
Without even looking back, or caring to respond to what his friend just said, Minho unlocked his car before driving off, actually to the guitar shop.
He’s not quite sure how long he spent in the store, maybe 3 hours? All he knows is that it was getting dark by the time he was walking out, laughing and saying goodbye to a friend who was working at the cash register. The guitar shop was like his second home, he’s even pretty sure the store owner called him “son” once by mistake.
Walking to his car, Minho felt his phone buzz, pulling it out to see the screen light up with Felix’s information. Sliding to the left, he brought the phone up to his ear, being met with the sound of a bumping bass and the undeniable sound of EDM music before Felix’s voice. “Hyung. Something big just fucking happened. I- Where are you right now?”
“I just left the guitar store, why? What happened? Where the fuck are you?” Minho shifted his body weight so the phone was held between his shoulder and ear while he unceremoniously shoved the key into the keyhole of his scion. Throwing the bag into his passenger seat, he slid down into the driver’s side, putting his phone on speaker and setting it in the console.
“I came to see The ParkWay stage, just so I could get a feel of the energy, but I guess someone else had a similar idea.” The younger man was most definitely shouting over the sound of dancers and music alike, though the noise was slowly fading, meaning he was walking away to find a quieter scene.
“Who? Didn’t you leave with Jisung, isn’t he there too?” Minho was already pulling out onto the city road, blinker on to change lanes.
“No, he was being prissy so I sent him home.” He could hear the aggravation in Felix’s voice, the other boy, only older by a day, was quite the drama queen when he wanted to be.
“Okay, so who then?”
“Seungmin. With his tongue down someone’s throat who definitely isn’t Y/N.” Luckily, Minho was just pulling up to a stop light, or else the speed at which he slammed on his brakes would have caused an accident.
“Wait wait- how are you sure it’s not Y/N, she was still with him when I left the house.” He was trying to calm down, though he could quickly feel the anger rising to the surface.
“Well unless she decided to dye her hair bright ass pink and get a bob-cut in the past 3 hours, I’m gonna take a safe bet and say it isn’t her.” At this point Minho was already making a u-turn, pushing the speed limit towards The ParkWay.
“I’m gonna fuck him up.” With that, Minho ended the call, quickly pulling into the parking lot where he could see Felix waiting for him outside.
As he got out of the car, his anger was pushing over the edge, and he was already seeing red. Felix tried to stop him from barging in, but it wasn’t of any use. Minho was going to do what he said he was going to fuck Seungmin up for this. He hurt you. His best friend. Maybe the love of his life. And he was going to pay for it.
“Hey asshole.” Minho pulled at the back of Seungmin’s collar, ripping him away from the girl he was previously lip-locked with. “Where’s Y/N?” At this point, his face was only a few centimeters away from he other boy’s, words practically coming out in a snarl.
Seungmin obviously wasn’t fazed by what was occurring, only pushing Minho back a bit and fixing his shirt, smirking. “I thought you were on a date right now, hyung. Why are you worrying about where my girlfriend is?”
That was the last straw for Minho before he was winding his first back and decking Seungmin in the nose before stalking away and driving home. He needed to figure out a way to tell Y/N.
Morning came quicker than expected, and Minho was packing up his car to head to the venue, feeling empty at the fact that you weren’t beside him. Oh right, you were coming with that absolute dickbag of a man. He still hadn’t figured out a way to tell you what he had seen, but he was sure that he was going to tell you tonight.
Later, at the venue, you showed up alone, Seungmin having arrived before you, which even you found odd after he had texted you, asking you to drive yourself. Though, when you saw him, you weren’t surprised as to why. A dark black circle encased his eye and he most definitively didn’t look to be happy to be there.
Rushing up to his side, you gingerly touched the swollen area, frowning as you did, not even bothering to say hello to the other boys who were milling around the stage setting up their own equipment as well. “Baby, what happened? I thought you went to the gym last night. Are you okay?” You hugged him, to which he gladly returned.
“Yea, my trainer wanted me to try boxing and really got my ass handed to me.” He laughed.
Minho and Felix both audibly scoffed at the excuse, not bothering to actually fight the singer, rather continuing what they were doing. But that didn’t last for long, Felix was soon pulling you aside to walk to the bar with him to ask for water bottles to put on stage. “He didn’t go to the gym last night.” He was quiet, glancing back at the stage before turning back to you, resting his arms on top of the sleek black countertop. “And his black eye definitely isn’t from boxing.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean he got caught cheating and your best friend served his ass to him on a silver platter.” He quipped, raising a hand to call the bartender over.
“What the hell, Felix, don’t joke like that.” You shoved his shoulder, pulling a bar stool up and jumping on top of it.
“It’s not a joke, Y/N. Want proof. Here.” He pulled out his phone, handing it to you, on it were photos after photos of your supposed loving boyfriend with his tongue down the throat of another girl with his hands resting on her ass.
“How did you- why did he-“ you couldn’t tell whether you wanted to cry or walk up to Seungmin and give him a matching black eye to his left one.
“Just so you know. Minho found out and beat his ass. Something about ‘hurting the love of his life’ or something.” Felix was someone who you had always trusted to be honest with you about something, even if it wasn’t something you wanted to hear. But he was also good about knowing what you needed afterwards. “I’ll come find you when the gig is about to start okay? We are already planning on kicking him out after tonight’s show. We won’t let that asshole near you again.”
He walked away with the water bottles in his hands, setting them down at each of the boys’ stations. Whispering something in Minho’s ear as he passed him. You just continued to sit where you were, too in shock of what you had just learned to react at all, even when Seungmin came up and pressed a kiss to your forehead, asking what was wrong.
“Um, I- uh, nothing. Sorry, I just got a bad headache so Felix told me to sit down and rest while you guys finished setting up.” Apparently that was enough to sedate your boyfriend’s worry because he smiled and kissed your forehead again before heading back up on stage.
Soon, the bar began to fill as more and more people crowded the area, at some point, you had gained enough composure to move from the bar stool you occupied to the front of the stage where you usually watched as they performed. As the set progressed further though, you found it harder and harder to focus on the music and easier and easier to retreat into your mind. That is, until you heard one of your favorite songs start to play, or it was because you always thought Seungmin sounded amazing in the chorus. Felix’s hands moved across the keys delicately as Jisung’s guitar slowly added to the ambience of the room, and soon the song was in full swing.
You found yourself dreading the arrival of the chorus, especially as Seungmin looked into your eyes as he sang, knowing how much you had always liked the song. But just as the chorus began, it wasn’t the sound of Seungmin’s voice that you heard, and soon you were looking directly into your best friend’s eyes. “What a shame, baby, what a shame. Coulda been with me instead of what’s-his-fucking-name?”
Minho locked eyes with you as well and you could see in your peripheral that Seungmin was struggling to figure out what was wrong with his mic, and Felix smirking in the background while Jeongin and Jisung looked on confused, but attempting to make it seem like it was normal for the crowd. “What a shame, baby, what a shame. Had a winning hand but you threw away the game.”
Now Minho was singing like he himself was made to be the lead singer, and Seungmin looked more than just frustrated. After the little fiasco, however, the gig continued without hiccup and soon, the boys were thanking the crowd for the amazing response and were walking out the door to backstage to meet up with you.
However, what you weren’t expecting, was Minho’s lips to land on yours as he walked up to you, without a word, and despite everything that had happened that evening, even you found yourself melting into the kiss, before Seungmin was now pulling at Minho’s collar, yanking you him away from you. “What the fuck, man?!” His fist was winding up to hit Minho, but Jisung was quick to step in and grab his arm.
“Nice try asshole, Felix and Minho told us what happened in the dressing room. Get away before I give you a black eye, myself.” He forcefully shoved Seungmin’s hand down, stepping between Minho, who had you tucked into his side, and Seungmin.
“Oh this is fucking comedic. You’re cheating on me and they’re backing you up? I didn’t know you were such a slut. What are you doing? Fucking all of them when I’m not around?” Seungmin tried to push past Jisung, but Jeongin and Felix were both quick to set up to the sides, creating an even bigger barrier between you two.
Minho was about to push past the 3 boys in front of him as well when he noticed you flinching at the words Seungmin spit out, maybe this wasn’t the first time Seungmin treated you this way. But, you held him back as well, stepping forward and squeezing between your friends’ human barricade. “That’s real fucking slick coming from someone who had their tongue down some girl’s throat last night. Did she know you had a girlfriend too? And don’t worry about me cheating, it doesn’t count if we were already broken up.”
With that, you slid past Jisung and Jeongin, back into Minho’s arms, before he turned you both around and walked towards the exit. “I think it’s time I take you on a VERY long overdue date, don’t you think?”
“HEY NO FUCKING ON THE FIRST DATE LIKE JEONGIN, HYUNG.” Jisung called out after them, running towards his own car once they exited the building, leaving a dumbstruck Seungmin in their wakes.
“CAN YOU PLEASE STOP WITH THE FUCKING ALREADY, JESUS CHRIST.” Felix, called out after him, shaking his head.
Yea, this date was definitely long overdue. Now the only problem was trying to figure out how to ditch the 3 date-crashers who were waiting by Minho’s car.
But he hates showing it because he doesn’t want to be stuck up
Like top of his meteorology class
But also top of of his modern dance class
He really likes dancing
It makes him feel like he is flying
Which is the best feeling in the world if you ask him
Kinda found out he was a demigod on accident, but he doesn’t even know he is a demigod asldfkgj
LIKE IT WAS A MAJOR ACCIDENT
So maybe he got a little too heated in an argument and a desk was flown into a wall
And he didn’t touch the desk
Notus is known for being the most temperamental of the Wind Gods
And it definitely passed on to his son
Oops
But he is also probably one of the most laid back of his friends beside Johnny
His personality really changes depending on who he is around
He likes to act silly around Taeyong and Yuta because seriously those two need to take a chill pill and down it with a Piña Colada
But when he is around his half-siblings and younger demigods he turns really protective really fast
And when he is around say Johnny or Chenle or Haechan he becomes the somber one because someone needs to stay calm when those three are together
So he actually got brought to camp rather forcefully
Because apparently when a monster is hot on your tail it tries to directs you to other demigods
Which is exactly what happened
Remember that desk that flew into a wall, well the person he was arguing with was actually a cyclops shrouded by the Veil
Good job, Ten
And the monster chased him all the way to the camp
But like he wasn’t claimed yet and had only known about his powers for a few mere hours, the poor boy
So he crossed the borders to camp and suddenly the cyclops stopped chasing after him? But he was open in the middle of the woods?
Until he turned around and he saw this huge green field with a pavilion and a lake and what looked like 50+ cabins in the distance and an amphitheater
And he was even more terrified because what in hell is this place and how could I not see it before
And suddenly this young girl who was probably around 5 years old with green skin came up and latched onto his leg
And now he’s even more scared bEcAUSEe GreEEN SkiN
But then a normal human walks up to him and sees the cyclops outside the border and kinda just goes oh, new demigod? Have you been claimed?
And honestly he is ready to pass out
Which he does
So apparently after he passed out (the little girl started crying because the cute man is hurt) that random demigod called for help and helped carry him to the pavilion before calling the Apollo/Achelios Camp Leader to check him out
After he woke up it took him a realllllly long time to process everything
And that night when he went to sleep in the Hermes cabin he was still super confused and kinda scared. Because did his mom know where he was? His cellphone dropped into a river while he was being chased. Did he even know where he was? Was he a freak? A million thoughts were running through his head at once
After barely sleeping a wink he woke up to an blow horn and 3 campers cackling around his bunk
Which got him mad and when he clenched his fist the blown horn popped
Oops
So basically he was in the Hermes cabin for around 3 months because no one had claimed him but he had also shown powers limited to demigods so he definitely wasn’t an outsider
And he actually got into the swing of things
Archery was cool, he was okay at it
He didn’t like swords that much but he could survive
But wow, flying on a pegasus? That was the best feeling in the world
He loved the go to the track and fly around after dinner until midnight
And suddenly one day while he was training with his pegasus, Tadd, he got bucked off the saddle while everyone was watching
It was at least 30 feet high
And he landed on his damn feet
And the next thing he knew he had a shining silver cloud erupting in flames over his head
And a voice in the back of his middle, deep, gruff and spiky was talking to him about how he was ready to face the challenges as the son of a god, a specific god: Notus
And Ten was really happy, so was everyone else because 1) they had never had a son of Notus here before and 2) Everyone could tell Ten couldn’t wait until the day he found out who his father was
So Ten has probably been at this camp the longest except for Jaemin but that’s a long story
And the one thing he does do during the summer is go out into society to look for other demigods
Which was how he met you. He had tracked you to a small town outside of Seoul and you were just like any other person
Music blasting in your ears as you walked down the street, humming along, eyes glued to your phone
And he almost thought that he had tracked the wrong person
Until he noticed your little obsession with gold.
Not like you were robbing banks and jewelry stores but as he got closer to you in order to bring you to the camp he realized you like to sew clothes with gold colored thread, Your jacket had gold embroidering. Your phone case was gold
When he brought it up you just laughed and said that your mom had told you all your life that gold was your dad’s favorite color and for a while you used to use it to give a connection to him but soon it became your favorite color as well.
And one day while he was meeting you up for coffee at a local donut shop, he noticed a shadow out of the corner of his eye but decided to ignore it
2 hours later he was gripping your hand running down an alleyway trying to pull drachma out of his pocket so he could hitch a ride back to camp and away from the Griffin currently chasing you down
Apparently waiters don’t like it when you try to send cold coffee back
He finally got you in a Hermes Cab and spent the entire time to the camp explaining what had happened
Let’s just say you took it a lot better than he did and didn’t have to be carried inside the camp borders
He was about to take you to the Hermes cabin when a Sun and Lyre appeared simultaneously above your head
You had been claimed by Apollo in the mere 5 hours you had been aware that you were a demigod
And Ten had to admit, he was jealous, why did he have to wait 3 months when you had to wait 5 hours
But he was also happy because he knows the feeling of finding a missing part about the puzzle that was a demigod’s life
So he goes and introduces you to your half-siblings and you immediately fit in
And he usually leaves new campers here, their cabins will take care of them now, but he doesn’t want to leave you
But has to because Johnny keeps Iris messaging him from the Aether Cabin about some party he needs help setting up
And to his dismay it seems like you don’t even notice him leaving
Or even his presence for the next 3 weeks because you have been getting along with your siblings really well
But one day Johnny is throwing another party and it spread across the entire camp, but he just wasn’t feeling it
He seemed even more bitter about the party than Taeyong
And you were there of course, talking with Sicheng (your Camp Leader) and Taeyong but kept noticing Ten just sitting in the corner reading a book? It was about modern dance okay
So you excuse yourself from Tae and Sicheng to go and plop down next to Ten
They were both totally giving you wiggly brows and side eyes
But he looked up from the book, startled to see you sitting across from him
You were the first one to speak
You're usually the life of the party, what’s going on?
Just not feeling it
It was easy to tell he didn’t want to talk about it, at least to you
So right as he went to pick up the book again you cut it
And you realized what you said right after you said it causing you to jump out of your seat, racing pasting a chuckling Sicheng and Haechan while blushing
Did I mention Ten is also Track Captain at camp because Wind Gods are super fast and that passes on to him and Johnny just hates running
So he caught up to you right in front of the lake holding your arm
I think you are cute too
And he leans down, kissing your cheek
And he walks you to the Apollo Cabin, kissing your cheek again before going back to his own cabin
It’s the first night since his first day at camp that he can’t sleep
But he doesn’t mind it this time
They think I’m cute too. *cue unmanly giggling at 4 am followed by a pillow thrown from Johnny’s side of the room*
And the next day it’s back to when you didn’t know you were a demigod
You and Ten are practically joined at the hip
While he helps you with agility and reflex you help him with archery
And you both are great flyers
And while he practices dance, you play the harp to create simple melody for him to follow
You guys really just compliment each other in every way
Making you the perfect team
Especially when chariot racing is on the table
You are a much better marksman than he is and he is a much better driver than you lol
So basically every time you 2 team up for racing
No one else wants to join because they know you will win
So the Camp Director forces you two to be on separate teams with in your own cabins
Which means you are paired with Sicheng, who is a great driver and an even better shot
And Ten is stuck with Johnny, dear god
Actually Johnny is really good with a Javelin and Sword so you know you are going to have to watch out for him
And you two get competitive
Remember how I said you make a perfect team?
You might make better enemies lmao
Ten tried to drive your chariot off the track so you Stuck a javelin in his back piston
Sicheng fired a flaming arrow into their hold so Johnny sawed through half of your reins
In the end you won
Shhhh, Ten wants a recount
Okay but he is really excited, jumping out of the chariot and racing over to you while Sicheng is trying to pull at your arm to go to the pavilion to be crowned with a golden laurel
And Johnny is silently sulking on the second place pedestal
But once you and Sicheng are hoisted onto the first place platform and you are crowned he is screaming and hollering and just overall being a really supportive boyfriend
But when you guys go onto the track competition he whoops your ass and doesn’t think twice about it
But you are there in the crowd screaming and hollering and being an overall supportive girlfriend
And later that night the camp decides to hold a sorta dance to commemorate the competitions and their winners
And everyone takes it seriously
Like after a straight week of pushing each other into mud and water and falling of pegasi in the sky and pushing your way through monster infested forests
Everyone wants to dress up and be slightly classy
So the Aphrodite and Eros houses have had boys and girls alike weaving in and out of their common areas because they offered to help everyone look their best for this event
And you and Ten agreed to not reveal your outfits to each other until you met up at the pavilion
And you were in a light blue dress that you got an Aphrodite kid to enchant so it would look like clouds moving around the ripples in the dress
And Ten was in a flowy gold top, half tucked into slacks and a couple buttons undone. An Eros kid temporarily threaded his hair with gold
BEST DRESSED COUPLE ANYONE
So basically he forces you into the middle of the dance floor and does that cheesy slow dance in the middle of everyone else jumping around and headbanging
But DJ!Mark totally notices so he switches the song to a self composed one that has a nice melody to it and soft vocals so he can create the mood for you two
And you are both slightly swaying to the music, nothing too fancy, definitely not what everyone was expecting from Ten
But you have you head on his shoulder, his hand encaptured in yours with his other on your waist as you both whisper a small conversation
And he mentions he’s met Apollo once
Which totally shocks and scares you… because he’s met your dad? The god?
But he just chuckles under his breath, and whispers in your ear about how he made Ten promise to never hurt you or he would face the full wrath of a god
Which got you even more scared because Ten… pls dont get hurt
But he laughs under his breath again and lets go of your hand to pull something out of his back pocket
And it’s a charm bracelet with a lyre and a cloud on it with a cursive T too
And as he slips it onto your wrist
He whispers about how he told your dad that he would quicker marry you than hurt you
a n y w a y s
Ten is a really soft bf and demigod and person in general
Unless it comes to hurting someone he loves
Then he can and will seriously injure someone
But other than that
Everyone looks up to him
Not just because he has been there forever
But because he has shown he has what it takes to protect the camp and how much everyone in it means to him
