RUN, don’t walk to catch the last two screenings of INCOHERENCE MANIFESTO: 4 Films By Bertrand Mandico. Narratives that seem simultaneously more and less porn-y than they actually are play out amid lovingly-created worlds of rich texture and jewel tones, giving the impression of watching highly specific fetish films for something not quite your cup of tea, but fascinating nonetheless.
Stylistically influenced by Pierre et Gilles and Pink Narcissus, it’s wonderful to see a similar aesthetic applied to a truly loving male gaze (for all the nudity, the camera seems just as interested in the women’s internal worlds made external as it does with their tactile qualities, a true fascination with woman as individual instead of object).
