Winter solstice photo challenge day 2: A winter legend. Black Shuck, there are many types of Black Shuck all around the UK and Europe. The name Black Shuck however comes from East Anglia and then became widely used for all encounters with spectral dogs. The chalk hills of the South Downs in Sussex have been the place of many such stories. My childhood hometown (set within the South Downs National Park) is no exception. I’ve even had an ambiguous encounter with something that may or may not have been a Shuck years ago.
