Superficial subject matter, in general, holds little interest for Jin. He does not want to hear about the banal arbitrary details of other people’s lives. He can hardly understand why people consume gossips that has no significance in the grand scheme of existence. There are too many substantial, productive and meaningful things in the world to focus on and nobody knows that better than him.

Okay, maybe Pharos hadn’t been paying attention. It’s pretty easy to tune out the entire world, or even forget anything exists at all once you get deep in thought. Probably doesn’t justify walking right into someone, but hey, no one is perfect.
