in the same vein as the first gift...

ditch and esmeranna dragon designs :3

was gonna put a cut here before i ramble about details and such but tumblr refused to work so. rambling below (as well as the original doodles)

derek -

he's furred, as more of a soft character, but the antlers are still sharp - he can stand up for himself despite the soft exterior (even though there a heart in his horns). derek's eyes also have more of a shine than his partner's. too, i gave them a grass/water duality in colour, derek going with the winds and titch having the hard, unwavering work ethic symbolised in a river. his fur creates a kind of collar on his neck, like a cape or fantasy he doesn't think he could've reached.

titch -

just as the water parallel mentioned above, titch has metallic plates on his hide as a more shielded character. his horns have more of a solid texture, with small lines and indents to display a guarded nature - he does also have soft spots, rounded lines on leopard print and flowers by his eyes, how it is a front he puts up to keep working.

the background can also show growth from the sunrise, and has some aubergines in it, as well as the heart/ribbon between them having one :>

anna -

she has a lot of lines across her pattern, flares at the mouth and flowers along the darker patches of skin, how love is in hatred. there is golden wool, both referencing her façade and the saying of a "wolf in sheep's clothing", along with the mythological golden fleece. the lines on her neck can also show a binding, being stuck in things that haven't set her truly free, and her silver (hurting vampires !!) jewellery resembles proper fangs, and the contrast of hiding a threat and creating it. her horns are rounded, like a cycle that doesn't end, and has another set off her hide similar to a devil.

esmeralda -

the most glaring part of both of their designs is probably the gems, esme having a ruby (an alternative name for anna) and anna herself having an emerald (the meaning of the name esmeralda). they're gay. duh. either way, esme's colour can also be taken for a symbolic meaning of envy, how she feels stuck in her life with ybbob, also mirrored by the spiral on her hide - too, she has jewellery which makes her more intimidating, though she wears it also for style unlike anna. there is a spinal cord-esque red structure up her back, trapping her and adding more of anna into her design colour-wise.

the background has red lighting - it may feel esmeralda's own castle, but the power dynamics are different to what they seem. also the fog was the only way i could fit them both-
