Day 7/100 of Productivity | 03/07/23
Started studying for A&P 2 three weeks early, as A&P 1 was way more difficult than I expected.
Can't wait for Spring Semester (Australia), I tend to perform better academically in the last half of the year than the first...
1:26 AM
When I was little, I used to wonder whether everything felt anything. I used to tiptoe between the fine lines of ants, but now I tread carelessly, knowing that they know nothing of this world. All they know is survival, pure instinct, they put no thought into where they tread, they just survive. So, in a way we're all ants really. Treading carelessly upon this earth, not caring where we put our feet as long as it doesn't hurt and gets us somewhere. So really, when I was little I was more human than I am now. I used to apologize if I ever stepped on any living thing, now I'm so tall I don't even notice all the little things in the grass, I only notice the big things.
Climate change, war, disease, whether or not I get my coffee in the morning.
Child me noticed all the little things, I look at big things. I thought it was meant to be the other way around? When I was little I was supposed to look at big, plain 'ol obvious things. And when I was older my eyes were supposed to be so weary from looking at all the big things that I looked to the small things. How birds flutter, the scurry of mice desperately trying to survive, a cat's pounce.
So, what I'm trying to say is.
It's 1:40 AM, maybe it was better if I was a child again.
my coach texted my speech team's slack today warning us about ai ballots are you fucking kidding me 💔

What I wish I knew before my first year in the Speech Pathology Degree (AUS)
Anatomy and physiology (1 and 2) are a beast of a subject that is full of unnecessary info for the degree.
In saying that, if possible, I would have done these two units in second year and done pre-study for them this year.
The curriculum style for my Uni is a spiral curriculum...
https://www.structural-learning.com/post/the-spiral-curriculum-a-teachers-guide
Spiral is unfulfilling at first but leads to a more wholesome and confident understanding of the material once graduated.
The additional health science subjects feel like all the same subject, but slightly different.
Take advantage of summer sessions early, you can apply to summer sessions before autumn session as long as you were accepted into the degree early enough.
Organize early. There are too many subjects with too similar info in first year that they all feel the same, and thus get hard to differentiate.
There are only 2 Speech subjects in the first year 😞😞
This has caused a lot of people to question the degree due to lack of immersion into the specialty of the degree.
Flashcards are mega important for the anatomy and speech subjects.
This is unrelatable to most, but planning a wedding at the same time as attending Uni is super stressful...
Make sure your income stream is above stable, as in year 3 and 4 of the degree, the placements are unpaid and are 42-70 days a year, 2-5 times a week for particular months of the year. This makes it hard to work other than weekends.
Thats about it really, I'll be checking in at the end of next year for a similar update. There I can tell you if Anatomy 1 is easier the second time around, and if I passed Anatomy 2... (I am legit struggling so bad with anatomy)
