Plane fixed with speedtape after bear checks out plane looking for food.
Small headcanon that occurred to me while drafting Hung.
The GAR’s ships, especially Star Destroyers like the Negotiator, see a fair amount of action and it’s likely that despite the competency of the clone mechanics and Anakin Skywalker, they are just too busy, too inundated, too often on the run to deal with every last non-essential mechanical repair to its fullest extent. (Plus, I just doubt there was budget enough from the Senate, which leads into a whole other set of questions.)
How often do you think the GAR used the GFFA equivalent of the aviation industry’s speed tape? Did it become kind of an inside joke with the vod? A way to refer to Obi-wan’s less than stellar methods of healing from major injuries? (”The General wrapped a piece of speed tape around his leg, General Skywalker! Then said it was fine, that speed tape can fix anything.”) Does a Senate member or holojournalist see some mechanic applying speedtape to a ship and assume the worst, prompting an “exposé” on how the Jedi are taking shortcuts and endangering lives by taping their ships together? (See linked article for a real-life equivalent.)
Anyway, a thought from your local occasional aviation-hobbyist lego snake.
