I'm releasing a quick font called SKYFANG! It was inspired by the logo for a video game I have never played. It's licensed under the SIL Open Font License, which pretty much means you can use it anywhere with no fuss. You can download it here!

Skyfang has 3 styles. One where the speedlines imply movement going right, (a slightly sloppier) one going left, and one that combines the two into a sort of horizontally blurry look.

I created the speedline effect in a pretty lazy way, using a similar technique to Texturelabs' halftone or engraving effect and then hitting that with image trace. What's fun is that I can put other reactive tone patterns I've designed onto the letters to see how they look. I think they look neat!

Inktober Day 12 - Shredded

So, I discovered that Clip Studio Paint has a bunch of built-in tools for comic stuff like speed lines. I may have used too many of them. Also, this image took around 3 hours to make, which is way longer than any of the other images I've made for Inktober so far. A lot of it was spent looking at reference images of miniguns and trying to get the tiny details correct... except you can't see them in the final piece because I covered it with the gun effect 🥲

Also, you can tell that I found out that there's not a seventh barrel in the middle of the minigun between the sketch and the lineart 🤣
