Speed Traps
Five years ago I visited Jamaica with my Mom and Dad. It would be the last time I traveled with them both. That will be a story for another time. This story is about the speed traps they have on the island.
It was our last day in Jamaica. We were up extremely early because we were leaving out of Montego Bay and we were in Manchester. Manchester is in the middle of the island and Montego Bay is on the North Coast, it took us almost 2 hours to get there. When we were about 30 minutes from the airport, there was a traffic stop. As we approached we could see armed soldiers pulling cars over and checking ID’s. I pulled up, a soldier greeted me, “Good Morning, where are you heading, he asks?” We are going the airport. He checked my license and sent us on our way.
As I approached the city of Montego Bay an officer flagged me down. He was standing almost in the middle of the road. “Good Morning, he says when I pulled over. Do you know how fast you were going? “No officer, the speed limit,” I said. He replied, “no, you were going fifty five in a forty five.”
My thoughts is that the first trap calls the second trap.
