Spell Materials Question

I have a whole-ass dead Meyers Lemon Tree. I bought it to be the guest book at my wedding, with little tags that people tied to the branches and signed and wrote notes on, and I saved those tags to make a collage at some point in the future. I loved this potted tree and dragged it from house to apartment to house as we have moved around in the last five years, in increasingly larger pots, but it sadly did not survive our terrible garden care. I’m not worried about it as an omen because my partner and I are still very much in love and the hardships we have been facing have been faced together as a unit. When we realized it was not going to make a come back, I took it out of the pot and shook it clean, so I have the entire (surprisingly small) root system and about four feet of one inch diameter tree.

Now what the hell do I do with it. I saved it from the burn pile because it is special to me, but I’m not sure what to do with it. I could cut it into rounds and make a set of runes? I could TRY to make a wooden athame like I have always lusted after in stores, but I have zero experience doing something like that. A wand? A staff? I have no idea! Am I hoarding and should burn it?

Hello! I am a very young witch (Still under my parent's roof), meaning while i would like to cast better spells. Unfortunately, I cannot use candles or incense, and I fear I will be looked down upon if my family discovers this. This in itself is overwhelming me, causing me anxiety. Is there anything I can do about this? Thank you!

Don’t worry if you can’t use “traditional” tools like candles or incense! There’s wiggle room in Witchcraft, and you can find substitutions for things that you’re not allowed or unable to procure. For instance, you could try an electric candle, or use a stone or gem that represents fire or intent in place of a burning candle. As for incense, you might try using essential oils, diluting them and sprinkling them around the room (or using a spray bottle). Substitutions are just as powerful, and there’s no disrespect in doing the best you can!
