If not for their own self-preservation, then at least so that it would be easier for him to plan ahead.

Better to get it out of the way now than be informed we’re taking a detour in the middle of our trip.” Angeline must understand -- Soren knew little about her, but the fact that she was employing them for this trip meant that she knew it wouldn’t be a short or trivial.
